"So is this it?" Jake quizzed.
Cindy was desperate to get away from him because she knew the longer she stayed and posed her pretentious antagonism, she would eventually give in. She wanted to run into his arms, but the need to feel wanted made her seem uninterested in him. Yet he was the definition of interest in her dictionary.
"I don't think you know what it is you want Jake," she replied, "if you want me then you need to want me as I am. And I come with a whole lot of uncomfortable."
"Haven't my actions and conduct proven that to you already?" he pleaded.
She looked away. In his eyes was a genuine innocence she knew would make her fake resistance crumble. She needed him, and hence she needed to get away. Plus, she had a lunch date with Marcus.
"I think you need time to yourself. To think things through."
