Jade had compelled them to not come to the afternoon visit and so they had a bit of time to themselves. Time had been a commodity expensive and unavailable even on their market. Even in her moment of need, Jade had been provident.
Jake held Cindy in her arms as they lay across the long couch. They were watching a movie which wasn't as exciting as the company of each other which they were enjoying. Even the popcorn that lay on the table in front of them could not compete.
"I spoke to Elizabeth the other day. We resolved our differences," she said.
"Oh, really," Jake responded.
"Yeah. We are best pals now. And you have to be nice to her because if she speaks badly about you then I will not marry you," she joked.
"Oh is that so?"
"Yeah," she said, "we have become that close."
"All in one afternoon?"
"Yes. And they say women struggle to get along."
"Well, you almost exchanged fists so…" Jake joked further.
