"Hey Jack, wanna play with us for a little? Maybe if you follow my orders I will leave you unscratched" a boy shouted from the hallway.
'Great! Now these shitheads needed to come of all times'
"Oi, did you hear me u four eyes?!"
A frail boy about 5'7 feet turned around with a stack of papers in his hands. He had a worn pair of glasses. He turned around again as if nothing happened and now was heading towards some stairs.
"You dare disobey me ah! Let me show you where your place is"
Annoyed, Jack turned around only to be hit in the face by a fist. He collapsed on the floor from the shock with the glasses torn in two in his hands. He then looked at the person who hit him. Only a foggy figure could be distinguished from the background, but a familiar one.
"Poor guy, he is being harassed again. Wish I can help him."
"Shhh! If they hear you, you will have a sword in your head tomorrow."
Jack was furious but he had helplessly been dragged into an empty classroom along with the bullies and the stack of papers.
"Well, now shall we do as I said earlier?"
"Nah, he ignored us so he needs to be taught a lesson." a tall figure said.
Jake was being held on a chair with a hand on his neck. The grip almost choked him as if that person wanted him dead. He then heard the familiar voice again.
"We will take his money and leave, no questions asked"
He was stripped by 2 bullies and his schoolbag turned upside down. That is what he could imagine since he was blindfolded.
"Ok, we got 13 bucks. Let's leave him be"
The cloth that was warped around Jake's eyes was removed and now he was alone in a classroom with his things being scattered around. He started to clean the mess while cursing the bullies, and mumbling to himself.
'Deam Sammy and his lapdogs! Don't you have anyone to annoy besides me? God, I wish I was strong enough to punch Sammy in the face so I can break his nose!'
He was about to leave the classroom when he bumps into a book with a red cover. He could not see what was written on it but decided to take it anyways because he thought it was the physics manual.
Arrived at home, Jake takes a shower and then attempts to repair the glasses by gluing the pieces back. He then starts to unpack the coursebooks that were in the backpack and grabs the red book. Going to his desk, he shoves the book venting his nerves.
"Ahhh! Why does no one report them? Seriously, how lazy can you be to ignore someone being dragged past you like a bag of trash on the floor?"
He takes a deep breath and looks at the roof of the flat he is sitting in. Jake is an orphan. He grew in an orphanage until 2 years ago, when a giant rock-like thing crashed into Earth, causing monsters to appear. They attacked people on sight and couldn't be killed with bullets. Mercyless beasts managed with a sheer number to kill 90% of the human population. Desperate to survive, humans decided to take shelter in a place where mountains will protect them, somewhere in the Himalayas mountains. Due to chaos in society, many fell in poverty while few who trampled upon others became richer than ever, thus creating the last standing city fortress Archsidium.
'To imagine my life 2 years ago was a great one, how laughable. I should start to my homework before it gets dark'
Jake turned on the antique TV that was suspended on the wall. All that was left from the television variety were two channels. One of them that Jake liked was "Cliffed Morning" that he decided to listen to today.
While the TV was warming with a static ambient noise up Jake started to study for the next day's test on math.
"...And now folks was the last report for the day. Today was quite energized don't you think, Mike?"
'Did something happen while I was at school?' Jake panicked knowing that any second a horde of monsters could attack and make him and the little number of humans remaining history forever. Curious, he took the remote and increased the volume.
"I can't believe my ears! John, did you hit your head or something today? You don't sound like yourself."
"Why you think that?" said John with an annoying voice.
"Well, today you said 9 stupid things, of course, I would be amazed if you said something remotely good for the show!" a little man named Mike said with a broken voice
" Said the mouse that....."
Suddenly the light in the flat went out. Jake seeing the light gone without a warning jumped from his chair and took a science of the fight.
'Good thing I took that self-defense lessons when I was younger.
He heard something fall on the floor from nearby. Scared, he backed off and before he could even notice heavy objects hit his head and he fell on the floor unconscious.
"Contact with the possible candidate was made" Jake heard before his mind has gone blank.
