Nana was shocked by the change in the scenery, though deep down she felt that this was normal. For the last few weeks, she has become aware of the world, with all of its makeup. After a few days of intense interrogation, and having been subjected to many tests, she has been cleared of any suspicious intentions.
But still, she was a mystery to the Andorians. The brain tests came back positive, that she doesn't remember anything, also there was evidence that her memory was erased, specifically all her personal memories. And the images that had been extracted from her memory confirmed that she came from a different world called Earth.
The only thing from this world, that she knows is the languages, all the languages of this planet, but nothing more and nothing less. The investigating department decided to keep her under constant surveillance, and keep her in a controlled environment, not much different than locking her up.
Nothing is going right in this world, is what Nana thought of, when she found herself suddenly appearing in a dense forest. All of this started last night, when a new officer came to her cell, and informed her that she was going to be released, tomorrow morning. With a wide beautiful smile, there was nothing for Nana to be worried about. Although a cell room, however luxurious it may seem it is still a Jail room for her.
The only solace she had was the feeling of being at ease, because she had never been treated as a criminal, but rather as a valuable guest; the only thing she lacked was freedom, the freedom to do whatever she wanted, but even if she had been granted that freedom, she didn't know what to do with it or even where to go.
Being in an alien world, alone without any memory of her past, without any knowledge of what to do in her present. All of those things combined, made her simply not interested in exploring this world. She had been provided with a communicator, a little bit bigger than a watch, through which she was able to follow everything going on in this country, and some other countries also. She was able to search for anything that came through her mind, and access any knowledge available in this world.
She had also been offered the implant with assisting AI. She had been told that all the humans use it and need it, but she refused that offer. Although her refusal was strange, to the Andorians, they simply gave her the choice, and the proper advice, and the final choice was hers.
That night, she slept in a room with a window for the first time. The view of the city at night was fascinating, the people walking, the vehicles of different shapes; at first glance, it was just like any major big city on earth, except, of course, for the hovering and flying vehicles.
Nana started wondering what her life was going to be like in this strange world. What was bothering her the most was her precious life on earth. Not having a clue what she was missing, she kept thinking and trying to remember anything from her past. But nothing was coming back to her. Sometimes she thought it was a blessing, that she didn't remember anything. It would have been worse, to remember a family, a loved one, and know that she couldn't see them ever again.
The only thing she came to realize, was that it was not fair to be subjected to all this without her consent, or her knowledge. Though she couldn't say for sure if she did consent or not, simply because, she can't remember. She also couldn't see herself capable of doing that, so the only solution she reached is to go forward and solve this issue, and to find out who was behind this and why they did it. There isn't much else she can do at the moment, except wait and see how things go from here onwards.
In the morning, after breakfast, detective Natasha came to her and informed her they were going to her new accommodation, and over there they discussed everything, Nana didn't mind, she just nodded and smiled back at Natasha and said "it's ok, as you know, I don't have any luggage." Natasha smiled again and said, "Don't worry about it. This is one of the things we can solve today also."No one else accompanied them, and they started chatting a little bit until they reached the ground floor.
On her first day, Nana didn't have the chance to see this floor, which is where she came in, and being frightened was the only thing she could remember, but now she could see the security stand in front of every door, and the huge reception desk, that can accommodate one hundred employees and serve thousands of people at the same time, but only one receptionist was sitting there.
The receptionist stood up as soon as they came out of the elevator, and Nana guided them towards her. When they came in front of the young lady, she smiled at both of them, saying " Good morning Natasha, and good morning Amun," and handed Nana a small envelope. "This is a small gift, and your identification card. We wish you good luck, and you can call us anytime you have any issues. " Nana, whose name now was Amun, since she couldn't even remember her name, thanked her and took the envelope.
Natasha saw the way Nana was looking at the envelope, and told her, "Don't worry, I will explain everything to you when we reach your new home." She guided her to the exit, saying, "Let's go, we have a lot of shopping to do today." Like in a magic world, Nana felt happy and hopeful that everything would change for the better. Little did she know that this smile would be the last one for a while.
Nana was the first one to get out of the door. And as soon Natasha wanted to follow her, she saw Amun disappearing in front of her eyes, like she went through a dimintional portal. She wasn't looking around, and the distance between them was a few inches only, its not like she didn't register the disappearance until it was too late, or anything, so Natasha went through the door and Amun disappeared.
