I walked down the stairs with a smile on my face.
I knew that Mayla and Lucas were here. I smiled as I saw them talking to Aunt Kara. I looked around only to realize that Uncle Cody was nowhere to be seen. I sat quietly beside Aunt Kara as I heard Mayla and Aunt Kara talk. I did not want to disturb whatever they were talking about.
"Rose," I heard a soft tone. I could not understand as I looked at Lucas who was staring at me. I raised my eyebrows in confusion as I blinked a few times. "Can we talk?"
Although Lucas's tone was not loud it was enough to make Aunt Kara in Mayla look our way. It was an awkward movement as I nodded my head. "The garden here is beautiful. Let me show you."
I got up as I looked at Mayla who closed her eyes in understanding. Did Lucas tell Mayla that he needed to tell me something? What was he going to say now?
