Chapter 16 - Chapter 14.2 His Mother

There was a knock on the cabin door. Liam shouted "Come in!" and the cabin door opened. It was Juno.

She smiled softly when their eyes met. She seemed kinda lost in thought, Liam was surprised bcz that was his job, daydreaming. Seeing her just standing there, he patted the space beside him as he moved over. She slowly sat down beside him and chuckled when she saw his questioning look.

"What?"

"I should ask you that. What's got you looking that serious? You look like you were possessed by the soul of a grandma." Liam joked as he turned to face her.

"I have something I want to tell you." She just smiled weakly as she twisted her hands.

"Go on."

"It's about the hybrid thing."

"What about it?" Liam tilted his head.

"I... Where do I start?" She looked genuinely torn, Liam tried not to spook her and look as supportive as he could.

"I'm a hybrid as well." She blurted out then winced slightly. Liam looked gobsmacked, she giggled seeing that.

"I don't know why I am suddenly acting like Michail. Basically what I wanted to tell you was that, you suddenly awakening your other bloodline is my fault. I felt when you were unconscious that you have the same other bloodline as me. Spending time with me stimulated your bloodline and it awakened earlier then it was supposed to." Liam looked even more shocked as his mouth was still hanging open. Maybe his hilarious reaction helped her but she calmed down a little.

"My mother was a succubus and my father was from another race. Unlike you, I was born with both my bloodlines awakened. It's really rare but it can happen. I've never actually met my dad, the stuff I know about him is from my mother. Something happened a while back and I ran away from our Clan. Ended up in that criminal spot, you found me in."

"When we stayed together, I felt close to you which is weird. I just thought it had something to do with you saving me. Now I think it must be because we are of the same race."

"But why do you think I awakened early because of you?" Liam cut off her ranting, she glared at him annoyed before answering.

"I believe that my father was higher in hierarchy, as compared to the parent you got your bloodline from. That means that I have a purer bloodline compared to you and people with purer bloodline can usually have some effect with those that have weaker blood. Of course it's not something that happens to everyone. Only a few races like vampires have a hierarchical system."

"I'm honestly not sure how but in some way my bloodline effected yours and your bloodline awakened early." She continued as she saw his questioning look. "By early I mean that you were going to awaken anyways but now you have awakened early. And that's.. what I wanted to apologize about."

Liam shook his head at her nervous look, he processed what he wanted to say before opening his mouth. "I'm not angry and you don't need to apologize. From what I gathered today, awakening early is better as your body accepts your bloodline while growing and makes some changes that are necessary. Awakening late can be bad as the success rate of both the bloodlines accepting each other lowers and even if you do awaken the later awakening one ends up being weaker."

"Basically what I am getting at is that, I should be the one whose thankful instead of you being sorry." Juno lightly punched his shoulder as he tried to make her smile by pulling up her lips with his fingers. "Can you tell me now what the other bloodline I'm awakening is?" Liam asked finally.

"No. I will tell you later. Probably." Liam looked at her suspiciously.

"Whatcha tryna hide gurl?"

Juno just shook her head at the botched accent attempt. "That reminds me, I have something else to tell you."

"Sure, I'm all ears."

"I have decided that I am going to be a boy." Juno said her usual calmness and indifference coming back.

"Wait really?" After calling her like a girl all the time, he had forgotten about that.

"Yep. So, I thought it would be better if you start calling and treating me like one. People always end up thinking of our race as one gender and it becomes really hard for them when we choose to be something they didn't expect. Due to all that I thought I should give you a heads-up."

"Thanks, I did nearly forget about that." Liam smiled at her. Oops! 'him'. 'It's him, you idiot!' He screamed at himself inside.

"What you guys tating abou?" Liam looked up as Michail walked in. He was in his pyjamas and hugging a pillow. He was probably sleepy that's why he was talking like a baby. It was something Liam had found out when they had a sleepover. Michail when sleepy started talking like a baby. He was probably the only one in their trio who acted his age.

"Nothing much. Are you sleepy?" Juno said and gave Liam a look, which Liam was sure meant that what they talked about was a secret.

Michail nodded sleepily. Liam pressed a button to extend the bed and picked Michail up before putting him between himself and Juno. Michail hugged the pillow in his arms as he closed his eyes and fell asleep. Liam smiled as he looked at his bulging cheeks and how he pouted his lips. Michail was like a younger brother to him, much cuter than his younger brother in the previous life.

Juno also laid down and hugged Michail before closing 'his' eyes. Liam lay down as he repeated 'Juno's a boy' in his head trying to make himself get used to it.

Maybe if he calls Juno by another name it will help.

Maddox threw a can to Lucien as he walked in the room. Lucien caught it without looking up, he looked deep in thought.

"What's up with you?" He said he sat down beside his son. Taking a sip from his own drink.

"Just taking it all in I guess." Lucien sighed as he rotated his neck. He was really worried when he heard about Liam then he had to pretend that there was an emergency and lie to Ethan, he didn't want to worry him. He flew here as fast as he could because he knew that Maddox was really unreliable in this regard. After dealing with the medics and preventing the news from spreading, he was a little tired mentally not to mention how worried he was. His mind constantly working to find solutions.

"It's... Really something huh? I really thought that we could protect him if we just kept him away of danger. I didn't think..." Maddox groaned as he leaned back, his shoulders tensing as he felt the need to punch something.

"Not to mention how confusing this is. I know my son was a dragon, then he can only get it from his mother. But she was a human. Right?"

"I'm not sure, that's what Leon said she was and I never questioned it. He didn't have a reason to lie. That's what I thought at least." Lucien said closing his eyes as he recalled his twin, everyone said they were exactly like each other and the exact opposite at the same time.

He didn't really get it.

"I should've known. There was always something suspicious about what happened back then but..."

"It was that woman." Lucien's pupils elongated in hatred as he recalled her, his dragon showing through. "I never liked her. But Leon was blind. Nothing surprising there. Running after her like a Dog."

"I never really cared for her, but I hate that he left Liam. I mean I guess I should try to understand but... honestly I don't really get it. When your mother died, I was devastated. She was my soulmate, my everything. BUT I still stayed with and brought you guys up, no matter how horrible I was at being a father." Maddox sighed, patting Lucien's shoulder.

"He was a coward."

"We don't know what happened, maybe he left for a reason."

"Yeah, right." Lucien rolled his eyes.

"Stop sulking. Go and call Ethan. I'll try to find that bastard." Maddox pushed his son out of the room.

"I'm not sulking. And you can't call him a bastard that will mean you...."

Maddox slammed the door shut, Lucien's voice drifting away. Lucien was always like that, trying to be responsible and take care of his family. Meanwhile, he and Leon were a mess. Always ending up in weird situations. But he was their father after all. He knew that no matter how much Lucien pretended to hate him, he was just worried for his brother. And a little hurt.

Maddox groaned as he scratched his head. 'Now where do I find that punk?'
