Chapter 80 - Lightness truth.

Two days before the Fiddlesticks encounter.

"You went to the cells again and spoke to the new ice mage?" Garen asked his younger sister as she entered his office.

"Why do you ask?" Lux tried to sound like uninterested.

Garen got up from his desk and approached her. "Did you?" his face was serious.

Lux sighed. "Yes, I went to see Shyvana and her cellmate, that guy from Frejlord."

"You shouldn't go there again!" Garen anxiously said. "He's a dangerous man!"

"I tried to find clues about Sylas!" Lux yelled at him. "I'm trying to find a clue about him!"

"He had a rune!" Garen yelled back. "I'm trying to protect you!"

Lux stormed off, enraged. She made a beeline for her room and slammed the door. As the door closed, she slided down with a sigh.

That's when the small ice phoenix landed on top of her shoulder.

"Eventually, he'll understand." the phoenix spoke.

"When?" Lux wondered.

"Perhaps at the court. Would you like to hear a story, young Luxanna?" the small ice phoenix questioned.

Lux nodded. She seemed interested.

The ice phoenix sat down and began. "Once, not long ago, there was a young white man, that was neither human, nor vastaya. Despite being different, he was loved among his family. Then, some evil men came, and split him in three and killed his family. The young man did not rest. He gathered six warriors, all different but perfect when together, and sailed to unknown lands, in order to fix his body."

"Where is he now?" Lux questioned.

"The young man?" the ice phoenix wondered, and then chuckled. "He's held captive by a nation that hates him. But not for long..."

"Why?"

"Because he is different, special." Freida explained.

.

.

.

The night that they encountered Fiddlesticks.

"Young Lux, I need your help." Freida calledbout for her, waking the young lady up.

"What is it?" she asked as she saw the small ice phoenix at the edge of her bed.

"I need your light. A monster is attacking a village nearby..."

.

.

.

"Dreamwalking?" Shyvana asked the young man.

Lanius chuckled as he raised his hand. Freida landed on it. "No, not dreamwalking. I dreamwalked once, but the ice phoenix isn't mine. Freida is using it as an outer body. She's still bound to me, and just uses it for..." Lanius made a pause there, as if he was trying to think of a reason.

"Exploration." Freida spoke for him.

"Exploration...not bad." Shyvana muttered as she braided her hair.

"You gotta take a walk once in a while." Freida joked. "It's not much, as it can break by a single collision, but it does the work."

"Do you like to fly?" Shyvana wondered.

"Yes. It gives you a sense of freedom. You can see almost everything from up there." Freida explained and dangled from the young man's arm. "What about you?"

"Loved it. When I was in the Dragonguard, I used to fly all the time." Shyvana exclaimed.

Lanius got up, with Freida still dangling on his arm and made his way to the bars. He raised his hand and banged at the bars, till one of the guards came towards him. He looked like the Winter had woken him up.

"What do you want?" he furiously asked. "Do you know what time it is?!"

Lanius smiled at him. "Get me Adep Cornelia. I want to talk to her."

.

.

.

Adept Cornelia opened the front door and stared at the soldier that was in front of her. It took two minutes for him to explain to her the situation, and fifteen more for Cornelia to get dressed and get to the prison.

As she arrived in front of the cell, the sun had already risen, making the cell less dark.

"You wanted to speak to me, ice mage?" she asked with a slightly irritated tone.

Lanius chuckled and got up from his "bed" and made his way to the bars. He had taken his bandages off, exposing his runic markings.

Adept Cornelia took a slight step back at the sight of the marks, but rained calm.

Lanius gave her a small stare and then spoke. "I'd like to confess."

"You do?" the irritated look on the Mageseeker's face changed to a happy one. "Great. This confession might save you from execution."

Lanius chuckled. "Execution? Like how this case might save you? Liberate you?" he whispered.

Cornelia looked confused. "I don't understand you, what do you mean?"

Lanius gave her a bright smile. "I just know, and I'll wait till the perfect tike. Let me tell you this...Adept Cornelia. This trial...will go down in history."

With that, Lanius backed away and sat back down.

Cornelia didn't speak, till she went back to her home. As she closed the door and faced the right wall, her expression changed from confusion to absolute horror, as she discovered three words written with ice that caused her to close her windows.

"Sylas of Dregbourne."

She approached the letters and tried to melt them with a torch. But as she tried more and more, instead of them melting, more letters appeared.

"I know your secret, Cornelia Razorstorm."

Adept Cornelia took off her mask and hurled it at the message, then fell on her knees and grabbed her head. "Who are you!" she screamed. "What do you want from me?!"

The two phrases merged and made a new word.

"Justice."

The words then melted.

Lanius calmly waited, as Shyvana finished braiding his hair. After she was done, he wrapped his body with new bandages and kept waiting.

"I'll find you a way out, Shyvana." the young man muttered.

"Nah, don't worry about me. Make sure you do what you have to. What's another year in here?" Shyvana shrugged it off.

Lanius stood there in silence. He closed his eyes and began praying to the Great Cryophoenix, to the Volibear, to the Great Ram, to the Lamb and the Wolf...

He prayed for strength in this new challenge.

The door then suddenly opened and four guards along with commander Garen stepped in.

Lanius got up and wore his coat, then stepped towards the guards.

"Good luck." Shyvana exclaimed as he passed by her. Lanius smiled and gave her a pat on the shoulder.

He stopped in front of Garen, and raised his hands in front of him.

Two of the guards shackled his hands. Then the Winter and the Demacians left the prison, and walked through the streets.
