"Annah..." Maine called out in a surprised tone but less enthusiastic.
With a frown on her forehead, Annah touched Maine's forehead in worry. "Are you alright? You look rather pale, dear," she said.
Maine just let Annah's hand down and leaned over to her ear to say something in whisper. "We are partnered in this class, Annah."
"Why? What happened to the old pairing?"
"Don't ask. I don't know too." Maine said. "When you were gone, there had been many changes. Purebloods are highly forbidden to mingle with any hybrids."
"What?" Annah asked in astonishment. "By whose decree?"
"By the prince himself," Maine answered with an unwavering tone.
"Ricco?" Annah said in disbelief.
"Yes. There had been too many purebloods that were sent home or punished openly on the campus after being caught talking to any hybrids." Maine said and straightened up once again when Professor Toc came in along with the imposing presence of the pureblood prince.
