Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Ricco then began to descend down the stairs with Maine behind him who was seriously throwing Annah a teasing look right now.

Annah's breathing wasn't anywhere calm most especially that this Ricco who was carrying her was still not uttering a single word until they reached the infirmary.

Ricco placed her in one of the soft bed while the physician attended Annah instantly.

"What happened to this?" the physician asked.

"I...uh....twisted it when I climbed up the stairs." Annah forced herself to focus on the physician rather than paid attention on how Ricco was just silently staring at her in the corner. He was crossing his arms together and leaned in the wall as the doctor began to aid Annah's ankle.

Annah saw Maine approaching Ricco to return the book she recognize as the study of Conipuput. The one she'd been wanting to finish reading. He just shook and said something to Maine who only nodded to his words.

Looking away from them, Annah concentrated to the doctor who put some herbs inside the wrapped bandage.

"By tomorrow, you'll feel much better. For now, don't stress this injured part." the doctor said.

Annah nodded attentively then and smiled. "Thank you so much, Doctor Filch, I feel so better now."

"Oh shush." The doctor waved in dismissal and gestured Maine.

"She alright now, doctor?"Maine asked.

"Yes. She needs to be carried back to her room. I'll find someone-"

"I got it." Ricco stepped in which gladdened the doctor.

"Oh thank you, laddie."

Ricco only nodded to the doctor before he walked near Annah. "Put your arms around my neck." he said and Annah followed his command while he gently slid his arm under her knees then the other one to her body, carrying her in the same bridal manner.

Annah rolled her eyes to her friend who was giggling nonstop behind the book to her face as they got out the infirmary. She ignored the thumping of her heart as they progressed up their dorm room where Maine opened the door for them.

She was even a little surprise when he knew what bed she slept in when he gently placed her there, taking his time before he finally distance himself from her.

"Thank you Mr. Kwon." Maine hastily said when Ricco was exiting the room without uttering another word.

Maine then went to Annah's side and clicked her forehead, "Where's you manners young lady?"

"I was about to say thank you, alright? Just got little delayed." Annah pouted.

"Oh, are you speechless with a nice mannered prince now?" Maine teased.

"Oh shut up."

"What? Still lovesick over that loser boyfriend of yours?" Maine began. "I don't want to hurt you at your first day here, but Jason is a sad ass loser cheater, pathetic phony man ever exited in hybrid race."

"Wow. That's a pretty long description for some stinking cheater like him." Annah even clapped.

"What? You knew?"

"Yeah. Broke up with him straight up." Annah said.

"Of course! I could never have best friend whose stupid enough to stay for someone undeserving."

"His loss." Annah gloated.

"Indeed it is!" Maine laughed out loud.

But it was only a week later that Jason also came back to England Academy and resume as a prefect. Maybe he talked smooth to the school administrator for him to get in at first beckoning, or that was Annah and Maine hypothesized inside their room.

"Leave me alone, you creep!" Annah screamed in horror as she rushed inside one of her class where Jason didn't dare to barge in since he was showing a good front to everybody. But whenever he catched Annah alone in the hallway, he chased after her.

To talk things out.

The nerve got some serious guts to even face her even if she had turned him down many times.

One night, Maine caught Annah running away from Jason. She dragged her friend to the dorm room and slammed the door at Jason's face.

"Gosh! That creep! I can't believe I dated that toad!" Annah fanned herself with her hands.

"He's not leaving you alone?"

"Yeah. So annoying."

"What does he want?"

"He wants to work things out between us."

"Disgusting."

"Tell me about it." Annah collapsed to the bed while she panted hard. "He says I can't find an man like him again. That he says I'm in love with him still."

"Well? Are you?"

Annah didn't answer that and took her time evaluating herself. "I don't think so..."

"You're not sure then?"

"I still feel hurt when I think about it. I saw him making out with another woman, Maine. Long legs, chesty and butts like waffles soft. I don't have that..."

"Oh no, no, no." Maine shook her head. "Did you just compare yourself with those bitchy vampires?"

"I...guess so?"

"Oh shit. Jason is a jerk and it's not your fault if he's a whore." Maine said. "I'm happy that your hymen is intact and secured. He doesn't deserve to break the watermelon at all."

"Oh gosh." Annah laughed out loud, throwing her head in bed.

"What?"

"You seriously using watermelon to describe my hymen?"

"It's nice metaphor." Maine defended seriously but a pillow then landed to her face when Annah threw it at her.

"I noticed Kwon has been oddly serious lately." Annah said one time when she was with Maine at the library.

Maine gave Annah a teasing look. "Why? Did you miss his bullying with you?"

"First of all, that's a very disgusting facial expression you have there. Second, I just noticed it and I'm pretty sure I wasn't alone to see it." Annah pointed out.

Maine then put back a book in the rack while she got another one and sat with Annah in the table.

"Actually, he started changing his demeanor after the king visited here for some personal evaluation of the performance of all purebloods including his son."

"The king came here? Must be chaotic around the school heads."

"You bet. Classes were canceled and all hybrids are sent to their dorms, never to go out after the king will leave."

"Only hybrids?"

"Yeah. Purebloods are then sent into the large hall of EIA to hear the king's decree to all of them."

"What decree?"
