Kai Piers looked at her, his gaze so cold it could've frozen her in place. "Lilian Meurer, both I and the Piers family refuse to meet with you. Yet, you dare come looking for Aurora?"
"I had no other choice..."
"Wasn't I clear enough when I sought you out at the magazine company?"
"Kai Piers..."
"It's no use. You've only brought this upon yourself," Kai said coldly. "You had a good hand, but you insisted on playing it this way."
Originally, she could have lived much better with his guilt.
Unfortunately, greed never ends well.
Especially when it goes to the extent of harming others to satisfy one's greed without considering the consequences.
Lilian looked at him; "I knew it. You'd come as long I came looking for Aurora. You're afraid I'd harm her, aren't you?"
"Yes. Who knows what you might do next?"
Kai moved towards Lilian: "Get out."
Lilian looked at him, "Where to? Kai Piers, did you orchestrate all this behind the scenes?"
"So what if I did? And what if I didn't?"
