"I'm not changing the subject," Grandma Winslow hastily refuted, "I need to establish the nature of your relationship first before I can answer your questions."
"We're not a couple, Grandma, you know this. So, you clearly know, yet you still...."
Oliver Winslow didn't finish his sentence, choosing instead to let his words hang in the air.
Grandma Winslow feigned ignorance: "What did I do? I've only met Ava Gibson once, what could I possibly do to you two?"
Seizing upon her slip, Oliver questioned: "I didn't say you did anything. What are you talking about?"
Grandma Winslow was instantly at a loss for words.
"Grandma," Oliver Winslow began in a coaxingly gentle tone, "I don't mean anything else. Just admit it, I just want to understand what exactly happened that night."
Grandma Winslow didn't look at him, instead turning her gaze to Ava.
Seeing this, Oliver Winslow swiftly reached behind Ava, nudging her sharply.
