Father Dupont's attitude was clear all of a sudden.
Aurora was taken aback, and Kai's face darkened.
"Kai, I have two daughters, Aurora and Riley. You manipulated Riley. You claimed you loved Aurora, and now you intend to woo her in such a manner. The moment you marry her, all of Lema City will know that I, Lincoln Dupont, retrieved my family fortune through you!"
Father Dupont grew more impassioned as he spoke: "I only have two daughters in this life, and you, Kai Piers, have toyed with them both. Riley is ruined now, albeit due to her own faults. But Aurora, I will never push her to your side again!"
"Uncle, you may want to reconsider," Kai interjected.
"I've thought it through!"
Kai glanced at Aurora. She refused to meet his gaze, simply supporting Father Dupont, her face pale.
Even her lipstick couldn't hide the pallor of her lips anymore.
Kai was watching all of this, and he immediately felt...lost.
