"I've come." She replied, "But Kai Piers, I've realized, you seem very unfamiliar now."
"I've been waiting for you."
Aurora Dupont looked at him, momentarily lost for words.
This was not the time for her and Kai Piers to exchange endearments; there were more important matters that needed her attention.
"Kai Piers," Aurora put aside all hesitation, she didn't have much time, "Your reasons for breaking up with me...are they just as you told Riley Dupont, right?"
"Yes."
Aurora gritted her teeth and gathered her courage to ask, "Did you do all this for me?"
She feared Kai's answer would be 'no', and even when asking this question, she felt anxious.
Kai looked at her firmly, and also firmly replied, "Yes."
A sudden relief flooded through Aurora.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"You lived with Riley, I was worried you...would expose everything, and all our efforts would be wasted."
