There was no bitterness as she imagined, just the full flavor of tea filling her mouth.
Lissy Lock took another sip.
"How is it?" Jim Fame asked, "Do you still enjoy it?"
"It's very good."
Jim Fame sighed, "Ah, Lissy. I know, you have been suffering."
Lissy lowered her head, showing a glimpse of her fair neck, but she did not speak.
It was only then that Jim Fame got to the point: "I know about Josiah Baker abducting you. John pulled from my men to go over there. He was honest with me about your situation."
Lissy nodded.
"He rarely seeks my help. Most things, essentially everything, he can handle himself. It's a rule among the men of the Fame family that once they come of age and face the world on their own, they can no longer rely on their family."
