Lissy Lock turned her head away, covering her face with both hands, not wanting John Fame to see her current state.
As she was just about to blame herself, she heard John Fame say, "I've already seen you at your worst, so what's the point in hiding?"
Lissy Lock wished she could find a hole and crawl into it.
Why... why did she cry?
Lissy Lock herself didn't understand. Even when she fought the most fiercely with John Fame, and their conflict was at its most intense, she controlled her tears, not letting a drop fall in front of John Fame.
But now... John's attitude towards her softened, he spoke to her softly and tenderly and she just cried out of the blue.
Turns out, what defeated her wasn't John Fame's coldness or ruthlessness, but his rare gentleness.
As John Fame fondly reminded her, the tears began to stream down her face uncontrolled.
