Kai Piers shook his head again: "No, Aurora."
Aurora Dupont looked puzzled: "So where are we going?"
"To a place where there's just the two of us." Kai Piers said, "Just you and me."
The clamor surrounding them seemed to intangibly separate them. The quiet was such that only Kai's voice could be heard. Aurora was taken aback: "What are you talking about?"
Kai Piers merely smiled, let out a somewhat helpless sigh: "I want to have dinner with you."
Aurora furrowed her brow: "Just... the two of us?"
"Just the two of us."
Aurora's expression immediately changed: "I want to get out of the car."
"Aurora," said Kai Piers hastily, "we're just having a meal, nothing else. I... want to spend time with you, even if it's only for one meal."
"I don't understand what you're trying to say," Aurora's face stiffened, "I don't want Riley to suspect anything. Don't forget who you are and the choices you've made."
"I haven't forgotten."
