A minute later, Kai Piers' phone buzzed.
He lifted his head from the documents, glanced at his phone, and then picked it up to check.
It was a photo sent by Matteo Quirke.
A pen dropped on the floor with a "plop", rolled a few times before slowing down to a halt.
Kai Piers' right hand was still in a pen-holding pose.
In the photo, a woman with long hair reaching her waist was bowing her head, in front of a substantial breakfast. She was drinking soy milk, bathed in sunlight streaming from the window, illuminating her softly.
From the side view seen in the photo, she was smiling.
Corner of her mouth curving upward, her brows and eyes relaxed, she seemed very natural and happy.
The woman in the photo was none other than Aurora Dupont.
