She kept her head down, her long eyelashes trembling gently, saying nothing.
"Lissy," John Fame began, tenderly caressing her face with his fingers, "you don't hate me, do you? You want to stay by my side, don't you?"
He couldn't be sure after everything they'd been through, he dare not hope, to continue being with her.
But now, all at once, everything had changed so dramatically.
If Grandpa didn't speak up, he would never have said anything, he had hoped, to never bring up these matters again.
She bit her lip and gave him a faint glance, then lowered her head again.
"John Fame, you say you love me, but is this what your love is like? You love me yet push me away…"

"Right, you had no choice, so you push me away, towards Oliver Winslow." Lissy said, "John Fame, I don't want you either now."
