John Fame regarded her with slightly raised eyebrows, then glanced at the food in her hand.
Lissy Lock immediately took a step back: "You..."
She wanted to say something, to chastise him for showing up so unexpectedly, for not uttering a single word, which almost frightened her.
But she swallowed her words before she could spit them out.
What was there to say?
She didn't want to see him, let alone talk, doing so would just be a waste of breath.
He was used to doing as he pleased, and it was just tiresome to play the game of slight after slight with him.
Having thought this, Lissy Lock cast a glance at John Fame, then turned around and resumed walking towards the oven.
John Fame's complexion darkened slightly, looking rather unsightly, but he remained silent.
One by one, the others in the kitchen began to go out.
Then, there was only Lissy Lock and him left.
He watched as Lissy Lock busily worked with the oven, her side profile serious and focused, ignoring him entirely.
