"That's right," Matteo Quirke confirmed, nodding, "My thoughts exactly mirror yours right now."
Aurora Dupont hesitated, "Can a plan like this...really work?"
"Why not? We could put it off day by day, hiding it for a year, even, if we had to. What do you think?"
Still, Aurora found it too incredible to believe. She shook her head, then nodded, finally sighing in disbelief, unsure of what to say.
"Let's just pretend to be together. You handle your people from the Dupont Family, and I'll handle mine from the Quirkes. We both want the same thing, to scratch each other's backs. It works out, doesn't it?" Matteo suggested, "In this way, we could stop getting pressured by our families to get married."
"But...this is just a temporary solution."
"I know. But listen, Aurora, if you refuse me now, maybe tomorrow you'll get pressured into meeting another swooner. The same goes for me."
