They needed to understand why Darren and the others had to follow her request while Ibe or Irish could explain what was going on there. He didn't want the woman's actions to keep them from staying longer in the mansion. Ibe patted Jase on the shoulder and apologized to them for troubling the little troupe.
People were following the woman carrying the Irish children on her shoulders like prisoners, but their response was like they were playing. The awkward atmosphere in the living room was uncharacteristic. Darren, Hale, Van, Ronan, and Jase felt they were being interrogated even though her conversation was only with Irish and Ibe.
When Ina looked at them and prepared herself to get an unexpected question, Darren or Hale was finally ready to answer if she asked something challenging. But Ina prefers to look at Ener and ask about herself.
