Chapter 10 - Fun Job
Darren was strolling downtown, where there was a crowd gathered around something. The sun had welcomed the morning. A middle-aged man sitting with people doing street gambling, surrounded by spectators watching their games.
"Please," said the one who looked like a gambling owner.
"This time, if you win, I will double your bet," he said again while biting a toothpick.
The man in front of him looked like a reasonably wealthy man carrying a bag of big, luxurious clothes, and then he took out a few gold coins from there, placing them on top of one of the cards he chose nervously.
"This time, pay me more," placed the bet on the right.
"Don't worry," he replied calmly.
Darren, standing next to the betting man, watched the game.
The dealer opens the selected card showing a three-heart card, and the man loses.
"Too bad, maybe next time," cheerfully as he opened his king card.
He left with an annoyed and angry face.
"Luckily, he's the son of a rich man; he's already lost to him seven times," came the voice of someone standing behind Dareen, getting interested in street gambling and sitting down.
"What are the rules of the game?" enthusiastic.
"It's easy," replied the dealer as he cleared up the five cards used to compete.
"You just have to choose the biggest card among these cards," the dealer looks like he is opening his five cards; there is a king, queen, warrior, joker, and three hearts.
"How much is the Joker worth?" Dareen asked.
"Ah, this is the strongest card; he can beat all but three hearts; however, if I have a card other than the joker and your card is three hearts, then you lose," the dealer explained by showing it in front of him.
"Okay," he agreed.
"Are you sure there's no cheating?" Dareen asked again to make sure.
"Of course, if I cheat, you can take all the money I got from earlier," he replied sarcastically.
"What's the stake?" before taking out his coin pocket.
The dealer pointed his finger at the number two, mixed the cards, and arranged the cards neatly on the table. He was staying close to the bookies who were also sitting before him.
"Uncle, I know that under your wooden table, there is a Mana stone,"
"You control it with the ring on your thumb," pointing at the item in question.
"Hey, kid! Be careful when you speak!" he replied furiously.
The people who heard his remarks there muttered.
"Uncle is not the only one who can use Mana in the hard rock here." Interrupted before issuing evidence.
"Only real Controllers can indeed see it," Dareen whispered without continuing.
The dealer got emotional; the veins on his face seemed to protrude, breaking the small wood that had been smoked all this time.
"People here can also use Mana, but they prefer to rely on luck." he stretched out his hands to be heard.
Darren then put down four coins containing two each.
"This is the joker," then opens the card.
"Then this is three hearts," he opened another card.
"Uncle didn't say how many cards you could bet, right?" Dareen said slyly.
Everyone was amazed that all the cards that were opened were correct.
Darren immediately caught his hand before the middle-aged man was about to attack, holding the ring on his thumb and then opening the rest of the card with the joker on it and the image half changed.
"The way to play is just to wait for the opponent to open the chosen card, and the dealer will only trade his cheat through this thing," said Dareen, satisfied, showing a silver ring with purple eyes.
Everyone there was angry that he had been tricked all this time, furiously gave all the money he got to Dareen, and left behind those who wanted to beat him up.
"I'm from the future, so it's difficult to deceive me," Dareen said happily while playing with the bag filled with gold.
After getting enough results, he rushed to find an inn some distance away, bought food to recover his strength, and rested.
[Braaak] put the bag of gold coins on the table.
Darren sat on his bed and opened the ring on his finger, concentrating on Mana until it changed. Straight back to his true self.
[Hosh…hosh] power weakened the pendant's performance, absorbing all of his Mana.
Shortness of breath immediately scratched the same place wrapped in a bandage. This time, the blood produced was enough to fill half of the cup, so the effort was not in vain, and a little tired from it.
Darren took a break to revive his energy.
The work often done is just eating, gambling, collecting blood, and sleeping. Everyone dreams of having fun with someone who doesn't have a steady job.
Dareen often uncovers an identity that is not used to controlling the intensity of power in his necklace.
On the other hand, gambling also requires Mana because many fraudulent bookies use hard stones to deceive people, including himself.
For the first time, we went to the casino building, a building reserved only for the nobility and certain circles. The facilities provided by the empire wanted to squander their wealth by gambling so that not everyone could enter to have fun there.
Darren transformed into another form of a handsome man, complete with noble accessories and luxurious clothes, not forgetting to rent a horse-drawn carriage to ensure his status there.
"I wish I could live a peaceful life like this," he daydreams, seeing the hustle and bustle of people passing by.
"Gambling and having fun if only mom could be here too," Dareen said; getting out of his mount and up the steps of the casino building, the horse-drawn carriage walked away.
Two male waiters in neat clothes were standing at the entrance, welcoming the guests.
"Welcome..." looked at Darren.
"Logan," he answered, trying to avert his eyes and walk straight.
The luxurious building looks like many beautiful female waitresses dressed in sexy clothes, busy delivering orders to guests and serving them.
Some even become personal servants hired by people who have abundant wealth.
They use bras made of cloth, only tied with a rope around their backs, and their bottoms are wrapped in silky and smooth silk.
"Hey, you calm down!" he says to himself.
"You trash man," felt nature's pleasurable call.
Dareen enjoyed his first night at the venue and won a lot of gambling. He was often trapped by people who had a supply of women to seduce their opponents and then cheat.
They used women more often than hard stone Mana because not everyone could use them.
Dareen only played for a while; he also has a limit for Mana in the necklace, or many people will see his proper form.
After harvesting the gambling results and returning to the inn, the horse-drawn carriage he was riding in departed to deliver him.
Darren changed into his regular clothes, transformed into another person, left ten gold coins inside, and jumped in the dark while the vehicle was still speeding.
