Somewhere inside the temple*

"Don't tell another lie. Because I will believe it again!"

Eren was looking mockingly at the creature in front of him, quoting a famous TV series in his own country. He was trying to fit the high-tech wristwatch given to him on his wrist. Discovering that he could have something high-tech for free at that moment, he muttered doubtfully to Maevis that he would get it back in an instant.

He had slept since he had completed the first floor filled with spiders. When he got up, he immediately cleaned and ate. Only now he had a chance to examine the wristwatch the blue-haired lady did give him. While examining this cool gadget, he was talking nonsense with a sarcastic side that he didn't have in Earth.

"I can buy things with that. With what? With pickles? I don't have a penny. And when I asked you about that charging energy stone, you said you weren't authorized to trade. Do I have the right to buy it now?"

Since he passed the first floor, maybe he could buy that energy stone and sell it when he gets home in the future.

"The temple allows creatures to take things that are on their planet and gives you the opportunity to buy only those things at the beginning. Anything you hunt for money can be traded with me.

You can trade any meat, bone, tooth or any item you can think of and earn money for this money. You can buy items that will strengthen you, technological aids and better quality food. You can find anything that is in your own world, as well as something new for each floor will be added to your shopping list.

For example for future alchemy stuff, you can buy spider legs and blood after you cleared the first floor. But the energy stone is offlimit. Maybe after floor twenty or something you will have a chance. Forget about this stone for now."

When Eren pressed the tool on his arm, a hologram appeared in the air, similar to the one when Maevis did it. The hologram was not linked by any light to the watch on his wrist. It appeared directly in the air. It looked like very high tech.

He tried to touch the image in the air just like Maevis, happy that everything on this device appeared in his own language. But he couldn't touch or influence the image in the air.

"What you see is a structure made of pure energy. Your body has no energy at all. Use the watch's own physical display."

With a bit of embarrassment, Eren pressed a button to turn off the cool hologramic display and entered the menu using the wristwatch-like but larger screen.

Except for a menu called "zzz.zx", there was only a place that said "profile". There was nothing but these two. He obviously didn't have as many achievements yet as he thought before.

Eren didn't even think about entering the profile. Already yesterday, the two creatures had shown him his profile, speaking in that crushing tone.

Maybe it could be things like in games -strength-agility-intelligence(str-agi-int), but without knowing these in detail, he already understood that his body was very weak. The number of spiders he had killed a few hours ago and the length of the road were unbelievable. It was clearly not designed to be something the average person could get through by laughing and playing.

Moreover, this was only the first floor. He had heard from the creature next to him that each floor was a lot harder that before.

"Can I really choose to leave the Temple if I can reach the tenth floor?"

Playing with her hair, Maevis had answered this question many times. But she repeated it tirelessly. "The tenth floor of the temple - means that you have reached the first safe zone. The real possibilities and dangers of the temple begin at that part. Yes, on the tenth floor, you will gain a lot of things, including your freedom."

Eren nodded in agreement and entered the part that said "Zzz-zx" and thought it was the grocery store.

And as soon as the menu that Eren pressed opens, a list of options and prices appeared, filling the entire screen. The prices were in a currency he didn't know. Maevis told him the entire universe was using a currency named Fed. The money of Federation.

But the currency he earned here was different. It was the money of Temple that just can be used in this place alone. He had earned 220 Zirot for all the spiders he had killed yesterday. According to the currency of this world, it was either 200 Dollar or 200 cent. But when he saw the prices of even the simplest things on the list, he realized that he was gaining a more basic currency. It must have been around $200.

The list started with simple clothes and books. He laughed when he saw all kinds of knives and guns. Eren was really happy at that moment. A pistol is only 60 Z. Really?

But he realized that the creature in front of him was also looking at him and that something was strange. Maevis was staring at him with an idiotic expression that couldn't believe her eyes.

"What?"

The blue-haired creature named Maevis touched Eren's arm for the first time and moved closer so she could see the screen better. Eren glanced at the alian creature for a second before lowering his head and looking at the list with her.

..she smells nice...

"Why is this list so long?"

Eren would smile and talk about the amazing scientific progress on his planet. But-

"Don't talk about tech crap. There are tons of races in the universe that are superior to yours but still accepted as inferior races. This list only needs to be 100 maybe 300 pages long. There are 10 items per page."

Eren squinted at his own list count. "7000 PAGES"

They were both shocked to think that 70,000 different things could be bought with a short multiplication. Even the blue-haired creature was surprised at something about Eren for the first time.

Eren, who wanted to press the forward button on the list, saw this woman start to press even before his finger could come close. Items that were getting more and more expensive and complex were passed over. In between, there were rifles, advanced camouflage clothing and weapons, even simple rpg missiles. There was never just one kind of every item, and Eren started to think that towards the end of the list there would be some really dangerous and useful stuff. But after some point in the list, strange names were added besides simple missiles. They were strange, but not foreign.

"Wand?"

Eren was grateful to have the little pictures next to these items because a small Sorcerer's Staff was visible to the left of the wand inscription.

Yes, a goddamn wand! The wand everyone is familiar with from books and movies!

Yes that kind of wand!!!

Eren could feel his heart racing. The feeling of extreme excitement in his chest, which he had never felt in his life, was getting stronger.

Now with the word "wand" written on the alien tech on his arm, he instantly understood what this meant.

"I can be a Magician!"

Even Maevis, who touched Eren's body and held the boy's arm tightly, was surprised to see the genetic enhancements in the rest of the list. There were mutating items and fluids that would equip a simple person with all sorts of abilities.

Actually, for Maevis, it was more or less obvious what kind of planet Eren came from. Looking at his body, it seemed that he wasn't from a very superior race. Even the Temple classified this boy as a simple subspecies. But if this list contained these items and features from the very beginning…the list was moving towards something more frightening.

"Where did you come from?"

He saw Eren's disregarding smile and convinced himself that Eren was the weakest-insignificant creature he had come from. Probably Eren came from an overly advanced "closed-system", huh?

There were many such communities and races. Such closed systems would be both dangerous and unique in several aspects. They were also likely to have produced something that had yet to be discovered by the rest of the universe. That's why those at the top of the universe always sought and invaded such closed and unseen civilizations.

After the invasion, it would sometimes be a wholesale genocide and sometimes it would be a simple technology trade. It depended of the closed-system's power level.

When Maevis progressed through the list while ignoring Eren, she saw strange spells, bright horses with horns on their heads for no reason(Unicorn), and winged horses (Pegasus from Greek Mythology) that she didn't know existed in the universe. There were also mutant-like creatures that could get into small round balls.

All listed at different but slightly increased prices. As they progressed a little further, nuclear materials, blueprints and simple missiles began to appear. Things that Maevis couldn't understand kept showing with interesting pictures.

For example, a cape was more expensive than a ready-to-detonate nuclear missile. Eren, on the other hand, knew that this cloak was giving it's user perfect invisibility. There was glasses who can show other peoples naked bodies. It was funny but the juicy price tag wasn't. The grin on Eren's face became even more frightening. Dangerous plans had already begun to form in his head.

For the Maevis and the rest of the universe, "magic" was used forcibly with just a few words of magical power. It should always be an even exchange. But when Maevis started seeing nonsensical spells and spellbooks on Eren's list, she got pissed.

'This boy must be from a very advanced civilization. An advanced civilization even for me and Federation's standards.

Maevis saw Eren returning a little to normal and smiling at his money.

"I thought you had no chance of surviving and hadn't spoken to you properly about the Temple. If you're ready and willing, I can help you. I can help you get to the tenth floor."

Eren looked a little more normal, but he still didn't hear the questions. In his own fantasy world, he continued to advance the list. There were absurd spells on the last page of Meavis. As he progressed a little further, he began to see things about permanent superpowers. For example, there was a skill of throwing lasers through the eyes that could cut through metal. Or it was possible to fly like a superhero.

But Eren didn't know how far he could go, as prices had already soared into the billions. It was probably impossible for him to shop on these pages, right?

Each page had items and powers from the books he read, the fantasy movies he watched, and the animes he followed. Even the ridiculous comedy movie add-ons he had seen before but had long forgotten were in the list.

For example, even a space ship was sold for Half a Trillion Z.

Yes, only half a trillionish!

As they progressed, they saw life-extending potions and even magical weapons that he didn't even cared in the books when he was reading.

But, Eren froze when he saw the ring. Don't ask which ring it is.

That ring.

"Holy Shit!"
