Chereads / In Office Hours / Chapter 4 - Club Cruz

Chapter 4 - Club Cruz

Just like that, my anxiety left my body. I no longer felt the need to gasp for air.

What in the hell was Nolan Moore doing at this club? Didn't he say that he did not hang out with the writing staff? Maybe he was hopeful he wouldn't run into anyone.

Yet here I am, fumbling into his arms. I couldn't exactly make out his appearance, the club lights were extremely dim with neon color strobes gliding across the walls. The music vibrated through the walls and I could even feel the vibrations under my feet.

"You.." I heard his voice say.

I couldn't speak. I froze as if I didn't know what to say. Technically I didn't know what to say, he's my boss!

For a moment, I had forgotten that our hands were clasped together. I quickly attempted to remove my hand but he refused to let go.

What? I thought.

"You decided to come?" His eyes lit up.

"Of coarse I did. I wasn't expecting you here though." I stared back at him. I didn't understand why he made my heart flutter but we were standing so close that I could feel the warmth radiating from his body.

Suddenly, I felt someone push into my back because of the crowd and found myself going forward into Nolan's arms.

I instantly melted, feeling a sense of relief that he was there.

Wait, no! I internally shouted.

"Are you always this clumsy?" He spoke, sounding annoyed. He shoveled me away from him and I hid my face in embarrassment.

"I need to go to the bathroom." I pushed myself away from him further and walked away, not even turning my head to see if he was still there. I'm sure he wasn't. He literally loathes me.

I perched myself over the sink, taking a deep breath. I wish Sara was here. She's so much more fun and way more out going than me. She'd know exactly what to say.

I pulled out my cell and started typing a message to her.

'SOS.' I typed. 'Nolan is here!'

I put my phone away and went into one of the stalls. I could hear in one stall over, a girl already regretting to drink the tequila.

I shouldn't drink. I'm just here to have fun with co workers, I reminded myself.

After a much needed confidence boost, I left the bathroom but felt my phone buzz.

I pulled it open and saw a text from Sara.

'Does that mean ur gonna fuck him? ;)'

I quickly put my phone away. That shameless woman!

I realized that I lost Sam in the crowd, but I decided to make my way to the bar. I ordered a martini and waited while the bartender made it.

I looked around and finally saw Sam with some other co workers.

"Sam!" I yelled, knowing that he wouldn't hear me.

I picked up my drink and walked over, sipping it as I went.

"Liv!" Sam sighed in relief. "I lost you for a bit!" He smiled.

I returned the smile and slurped down the rest of the drink. Whew. Strong one.

"I went to the bathroom." I shouted over the music and Sam nodded as a response.

"The guys are gonna go grab a drink, do you want one?"

Maybe one more couldn't hurt. I nodded 'yes' and the group walked away.

I swayed slightly to the music and looked at Sam.

"I saw Nolan!"

Sam looked puzzled. "There's no way! This isn't his type of place." He laughed.

"No really!" I protested. "I saw him on the way to the bathroom."

Sam ignored me and began dancing too. "Do you want to dance?"

I vigorously shook my head as a no but Sam had already took my hand to drag me to the crowded dance floor.

"Wait!" I groaned. I knew nothing about dancing especially club dancing.

Sam pulled me closer to him and swayed his hips while raising my arm into the air with his. He definitely has had a few drinks already.

I laughed at his dancing, but it was better than everyone else around us.

I nervously moved my hips in a waving motion and turned my head to the side while dancing. It was kind of fun actually.

People bumped into both of us while we danced but it didn't bother us because we were bumping into them too.

The music blared and switched tempos every few beats to get the crowd going. The DJ was good at his job!

I lifted my head and looked at Sam who was in his own little dancing world but he kept a hold of my hand this time.

I laughed again and swerved my body more, making my dress ride up my thighs a bit which forced me to consistently pull the edges back down.

When I turned my head, I saw Nolan on the dance floor too. He had his arm wrapped around a woman with blonde hair in a silver sequenced dress. It must have been his girlfriend.

I couldn't help but stare while I danced and I ended up getting caught by Nolan. His eyes met mine and his expression instantly changed.

He tightened his arm around the woman, sliding his hand to her butt.

I blinked, feeling my cheeks grow warm.

He flashed me a smile and continued to dance with her and I couldn't help but feel a sense of jealously coarse through me.

The co-workers found us on the dance floor and i instantly took one of the shots, guzzling it down.

The group cheered me on as I took another. The sudden feeling of alcohol running into your system quickly is a kind of high that should put you flat on your butt.

I shook my head and clapped my hands together. "Whew!" I shouted.

I glanced over at Nolan who was watching me with such intensity that he began kissing that woman to break his gaze from me.

I blinked my eyes.

"Want another?" Sam asked.

I nodded and took another shot before swaying my hips again.

This time I took both of Sam's hands and guided them around my waist. His body came closer to me as we danced. We danced in sync to the music, nestling our bodies into each other after a few moments.

Sam made my body shudder. His hands explored the bareness of my back in this dress as we danced. My arms stayed folded in front of me against his chest.

I could feel his heart pounding and it exhilarated me. I wanted to be closer to him.

As I inched myself closer to him, he pulled me in. His right hand trailed its way up my shoulder and the palm laid against the base of my neck.

His forehead leaned against mine as we danced more and I could feel his breath fanning my cheek. We were that close. Close enough to actually kiss. Did I want to kiss him?

I could feel the booze enter my system more deeply, intoxicating my senses.

I slurred my laughter as I continued to dance but then I found myself pressing my lips against something wet and warm.

My eyes narrowed in and it was Sam. His eyes were closed but our lips feverishly moved in sync, opening and closing together. The hand that cradled my neck was now nestling itself into my hair.

I noticed my hands had a grip on his button down shirt, holding myself against him as we shared the kiss.

Feeling breathless, I pulled away to recollect myself. I turned my head to see Nolan glaring at me with such anger. His body immediately walked away to exit the club.

I was so confused that I told Sam I would be back and left him on the dance floor.

I wasn't about to let Nolan just walk away without giving me answers. Wow alcohol has a braving affect on me.

I watch Nolan furiously leave the club and walk down the sidewalk. I followed him, summoning up the courage to get angry and yell at him.

"Go away, princess." He demanded, knowing I was behind him.

No!" I shouted and he stopped.

We had walked a far distance from the club that we couldn't see it anymore. The corner pole lights were the only things that lit up the side walk.

"You really are not that bright." He turned around, giving me a glare.

I marched closer to him, furrowing my brows.

"What is your deal with me?" I protested.

"First you hate me, then you imply you like me." My eyes rolled. "Then you show up here when you clearly never come to this place, and then who was that girl? Your girlfriend? You know what, it doesn't matter! You clearly don't kno—" my words were cut off by two warm hands cupping my face and lips pressing against mine.

I was taken aback but I found myself melting into the kiss. His lips were soft and supple like silk. He was gentle but had moved one of his hands to small of my back to pull me closer.

I then felt him guide my body to the nearby ally and my back met the wall of a concrete building. His lips never left mine and I could feel his tongue creeping in to my mouth.

My hands simultaneously explored his body, peeling away his leather jacket that revealed his muscles inside of a grey shirt. His hands inched down the bottom of my dress, being careful as to where his hands guided him up my thigh.

I craved his touch so much that my body instinctively curved into his hands. The submissive state sent his mind racing.

Before parting from the kiss, I felt his teeth gently tug on my lower lip, forcing a moan to escape my lips. A noise I wasn't familiar with.

His caramel eyes met mine as if we were agreeing with each other.

Nolan took out his cell and called a cab.
