It'd been 3 months since the events of the last chapter. Anna and Sid's relationship was the talk of fieldstown high. Brian the bully had learned to avoid the pair, because unbeknownst to him, Anna used her gaze ability on him to defuse his anger whenever he tried to bully them. He'd started to look a coward or worse like he had a crush on her so he decided to avoid her all together. This while a blessing for Sid , was hell for Luke . Brian turned all his attention and creativity towards bullying Luke.
Anna could have stepped in but it felt to her like justice seeing that Luke had stalked her and almost descovered her deepest secret. Moreover there was no need helping luke as he wasn't long for the world. Her 16th birthday was fast approaching you see, and he was the perfect candidate for her initiation ceremony. she could tell he had a crush on her, what with the lingering stares and the amount of times he found an excuse to walk by her house when he knew she would be tending her flowers on the lawn. She planned to exploit that crush.
The trio were walking to the cafeteria when one of the stones twins tripped Luke and he fell head first. Everyone burst out laughing.
They were walking towards their bikes only to find Luke's tyres were missing and in the back of Brian's convertible as he drove past.

"really? I think I have a headache. I should run home and get some rest" she replied. she straightened herself up and he saw her to her car.
"And that's how I missed out on the hottest girl in fields town" Sid was saying to Luke on their ride back from school on Monday.
"well let's hope you get another shot" Luke said grudgingly " where's she been by the way"
"She came down with a cold" Sid replied. "she'd be back hopefully before her birthday cause I plan on throwing her a huge party"
On the day of Anna's 16th birthday Sid got a text to meet at her house alone, and surely he was on his bike the next minute cycling over there. He was sad she'd rejected his offer of a party but this was a better alternative. Her Brother would leave them home alone to watch movies and eat cake. His mind was still on the unfinished business they had the last time, and he was sure going to touch base today.

Anna got home from Sid's place with a deathly thirst for blood . It was what vampires referred to as careening. Ariel had figured that Anna had gotten a taste of Sid's blood because regular Anna hated refrigerated blood . She'd rather go on her little blood hunts leaving a trail of gazed clueless humans than drink purchased blood.
Hence it was no surprise when Sid knocked on the door to Anna's house that fateful day, Ariel answered it , put his hand on Sid's shoulder staring deep into his soul and whispered "follow me"
Sid found himself in a sudden trance. He could see all that was happening but he had no control over his body. Ariel led him down into the basement. Anna was chained to a wall, her head slowly raised to catch his eyes. She looked so sick like she was inches from death. He wanted to run to her aid. He feared the horrors Ariel must have put her through. He knelt down facing her, she leaned in to whisper in his ear. There was a sudden sharp pain from his neck, and he felt blood oozing from the site of the pain .He tried to scream but couldn't find his voice. Anna was ravaging through his neck at this point. He couldn't understand what Ariel did to make her that way. Before long he heard her chains break, and with a firm grip on his jaw and shoulder, he felt the force of her hands tearing his head from his neck.
Anna blacked out, hitting her head on the remains of her boyfriend.
