Chapter 4 - Vol 2. Chapter 1 Two Years Later

Two years after the events at the Zauberer family house, the three of the survivors. Urufu, Simon, and Sofie are currently on a mission in a Mushroom forest to retrieve a lost item stolen by something that the quest poster could only describe as *Humanoid but not human.*

"I wonder where this monster is?" said Urufu, who now is a twelve-year-old.

"Well, considering this is an A rank mission, I don't think it will be easy to find," said Simon, now twelve years old.

"Wow, there are a lot of Mushrooms here," said Sofie, who is now ten years old.

"Well, yeah! This is a mushroom forest, so of course there will be mushrooms here," said Simon in a confused tone.

"Hey, Simon, how much was this mission worth?" asked Urufu.

"I think around 1200 gems," replied Simon, who looked at the poster he brought back

The lost item they were looking for belonged to a rich person who lived in the same town they were temporarily staying at. In the two years they traveled, they slept in 12 towns, moved town every two months, and met multiple people who either accepted them or tried to kill them.

"1200!?! That is enough for a place to sleep for two weeks!" replied Urufu shocked.

"You're forgetting the cost of meals, and since we are three people, that means we can eat and sleep safely for four days," replied Simon.

"I would still say that's a good thing," said Urufu, still confidently.

"Either way, we can't celebrate early. We still have to find the creature and confirm that it's the lost item," said Simon.

"Why don't we ask that tall guy looking at us?" asked Sofie to the party while pointing at a humanoid thing with a Mushroom head. It looks at least 2 meters tall and has something around its neck.

Simon looks at the mission poster and realizes that it has the item they are looking for around the neck. "That is the item we are looking for, around its neck," told Simon.

"umm, excuse me, can we have that item back? The kind old lady wants it back-," said Sofie to the Mushroom creature before being interrupted by it ambushing them without saying a word. Urufu reacted fast and pulled Sofie back while preparing to attack the mushroom creature.

Both Urufu and the mushroom creature's attack collide. Around the same time, Simon and Sofie prepared their staff for another big fight.

"Since words won't work, we will have to fight you for that item," said Urufu in a cocky tone.

"Oh boy, I think I should prepare a healing spell first," said Simon in a worried tone.

"Is brother being arrogant again?" asked Sofie to Simon

"Just make sure he doesn't go rogue," replied Simon

Urufu going rouge is a prevalent thing to happen among the Werewolf party. Ever since the burning of the family house, every time Urufu has gone rouge or gone into his werewolf form, he would have to be put to sleep by Simon and then scolded by Simon the next day for not thinking of the consequences.

Back to the fight, Urufu and the Mushroom creatures are trading attacks with each other, and both are taking massive damage from the battle.

"I think you should help him, Sofie," told Simon to Sofie

"Alright, GELU GELUS!" Yelled Sofie, which activated an Ice spell that hit the Mushroom creature in the legs, which rose his legs. This gave Urufu a chance to hit an effective attack on the Mushroom creature.

However, this made Urufu mad, "DO NOT INTERFERE!" Yelled Urufu to his party.

"God dammit, he's rogue again?" replied Simon.

Urufu and the Mushroom creature keep trading blows, and Urufu looks even more frustrated with each attack he lashes out of receives. This does not go unnoticed with Simon.

"We are putting an end to this fight. He's gone rogue again!" said Simon out loud.

"Yup... So how are we doing this?" asked Sofie, annoyed by Urufu's previous comment.

"HABERE RELIQUUM!" Yelled Simon, which activated a sleep spell that hit Urufu and the Mushroom monster.

"Why didn't you use that spell earlier?" Asked Sofie.

"I was hoping Urufu would not go rogue for this mission. However, it seems every other mission he goes rogue, and this time it was an A rank mission which is the worst part," replied Simon back to Sofie.

"Yeah, he seriously needs to learn to control himself!" replied Sofie.

"Anyways, grab the item from the Monster's neck, and I will grab Urufu, and then let's get out of here," told Simon to Sofie.

"Alright!" replied Sofie. They took the stolen item and dragged Urufu with them back to the town they were staying at to get their reward.

"Here you go, ma'am, we got your item back," told Sofie to the rich old woman.

"Thank you so much. I'm impressed that kids like you could take on such a scary creature. Here's your reward of 1200 gems," replied the rich old woman.

"Thank you, ma'am," replied Simon as he received the money. he started to count.

"Say, young ones, why don't I hire you kids as guards of mine?" asked the rich old woman.

"Oh, trust me, If you hired us as guards for you, you wouldn't survive for much longer. Anyways see you around!" replied Simon as He and Sofie walked outside to find Urufu leaning towards the building, still sleeping from the spell earlier.

"Wake up already, Eight hours have passed, and I know the spell is over," told Simon to a sleepy Urufu.

"Ugh, huh, where am I?" Asked Urufu as he woke up.

"We finished the mission. I just got the 1200 gems from the woman," replied Simon

"Did... Did I go rogue?" Asked Urufu while being worried.

"Yup..." replied Simon in an upset tone.

"Look, I-," Said Urufu before being interrupted by Simon.

"NO! Do not give me the "Look, I'm sorry for what I did, and I will learn from this mistake" schpeal. BECAUSE I KNOW YOU WON'T! YOU HAVE HAD OVER 2 YEARS TO LEARN HOW TO CONTROL YOUR ANGER. AND ALMOST EVERY OTHER MISSION YOU GO ROUGE IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, AND MOST ARE PREVENTABLE!!!" Yelled Simon to Urufu in anger.

"Brother..." replied Sofie in a worried tone.

"I'M TIRED OF HAVING TO USE THE SLEEPING SPELL JUST TO GET YOU TO NOT FUCK UP EVERYTHING. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A TEAM! AND YET YOU ACT LIKE YOU'RE THE ONLY IMPORTANT ONE IN THIS GROUP, AND I'M SICK OF IT! UNLESS YOU CAN LEARN ON HOW TO BE A FUCKING TEAMMATE, THEN THIS TEAM IS DISBANDED! HERE IS YOUR SHARE, AND GOODBYE!" Yelled Simon as he threw 400 Gems to Urufu before storming off.

"Brother!... Sorry, Urufu," told Sofie to Urufu before running to Simon.

"Ugh, who needs a team anyway? I can go on missions on my own," told Urufu himself.

Later that day, Simon and Sofie were eating at a tavern. None of them were even speaking to each other, eating their soup without a word. Sofie was afraid that mentioning Urufu would make her brother even madder.

"Ugh, I don't get it!" said Simon out loud in a frustrated tone.

"get about what?" asked Sofie in a confused and scared tone.

"Why does Urufu never learn?" asked Simon.

"Maybe Urufu just has fun without realizing the issues that it can bring?" replied Sofie.

"Yeah, but that does not excuse him from always putting us in danger and almost always never letting us attack the enemies that we fight. It's almost like he thinks he's this perfect main character in a story," said Simon.

"He's like a knight in shining armor to us sometimes," replied Sofie smiling.

"It's because of him that we had to move town every two months because he went rogue inside the town," said Simon

"He's still family to us!" replied Sofie

"I don't get it, why did dad bother to add him to our family, I know he's a werewolf and all, but I don't get why he bothered with that reckless fool-" said Simon before Sofie slammed her hands on the table.

"SHUT UP! SHUT THE HELL UP! DON'T YOU DARE SAY THAT ABOUT URUFU! HE MIGHT PUT US IN DANGER BUT HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN WHAT DAD'S FINAL WORDS WERE TO US? YOU ARE SUCH AN COWARD OF A BROTHER. I'M GOING TO BED." Yelled Sofie to Simon while crying in the tavern, and after finishing talking, she left the tavern to head to the hotel room.

Simon sat the rest of the time in silence as the tavern continued normally. Meanwhile, Urufu was relaxing under a tree with his cloak on inside a forest near the town. As Urufu was trying to sleep, a poster hit him in the face. When Urufu looked at the poster, he realized he had just looked at an S Rank mission.

"I can handle this mission," Told Urufu to himself, still being mad over Simon getting angry at him.

The next day Urufu started his S rank mission. Meanwhile, Simon was lying in the hotel bed thinking about the stuff he told Urufu and the things their dad told them. That being, "Protect your new brother. Help him get control of his werewolf powers."

Simon looks at the third bed, empty, not even touched. "Damn, I messed up," told Simon to himself.

"Yeah, you did," replied Sofie, sitting on her bed, looking upset.

"I'm sorry... for everything I said yesterday. I regret what I told Urufu," said Simon realizing how much he messed up this time.

"I should have tried to help him teach how to control his powers instead of yelling at him like that," said Simon.

"I'm also sorry for yelling at you while we were eating," replied Sofie looking guilty.

"Don't feel guilty, Sofie. I kind off deserved that yelling of yours. Without it, I probably would still be mad at Urufu over something I should have helped him with." said Simon while trying to cheer up Sofie.

"Do you think we can form the werewolf party again?" asked Sofie.

"I'm not sure myself. It's up to how Urufu feels about it," replied Simon.

"Yeah, maybe we should look for him and apologize to him ourselves for what was said yesterday," suggested Sofie.

"Yeah, I think we should look for him and apologize, come on, let's look for our wolf brother," replied Simon while patting Sofie's head.

The two kids process to use the entire morning looking for Urufu. They asked villagers around the town if they saw their wolf brother.

"Hey, have you seen a kid about my size, with a darker skin tone but has a patch of lighter skin around the top left area of his head and has white hair?" asked Simon to the town's sheriff.

"Can't say I have seen someone with that kind of details recently, sorry kid." replied the sheriff.

"Damn, thanks for your help, though," replied Simon.

"Excuse me, have you seen a wolf-looking boy yesterday?" asked Sofie to the local postman.

"Sorry, I haven't. Maybe you should report a missing person to the sheriff?" replied the postman.

"My brother has already done that, but thank you for your time." Replied Sofie to the postman.

After asking around, they meet up in the town center to discuss if they found anything.

"Any luck?" asked Sofie.

"No, what about you?" replied Simon.

"Not even a hint," replied Sofie.

"Damn, he could not have gone far in one day," said Simon.

They both noticed that many adventurers were surrounding the mission scout post.

"It's so strange," said one of the adventurers.

"Why is such a high-ranking mission put up in such a small town like this?" asked another adventurer.

"What's going on?" Asked Simon to, the two adventurers.

"Ohh, you're the strong wizard kid who took down the Funguy who stole from the rich woman." said one of the adventurers.

"You see, an S rank mission has appeared." said the other one to Simon.

Simon and Sofie took a look at the mission poster to see an S rank mission had appeared there overnight. The mission area was close to the next town over. it said.

*Mission rank S: Kill Jack The Frost. Reason: Mass murderer who leaves his victims frozen after killing them.*

after reading the poster, Simon and Sofie realized that they had to hurry up, not to find Jack, but to find Urufu before he met Jack.
