Chapter 1 - Chapter One

Captain Killian Calnick Maverick, the Slayer of Sea Demons

Unlike any other barbarous, murderous, terrible, violence-ridden pirate, unlike the others that the European soldiers shot and aim at, waged war with, captured, and hung, unlike the ones that pillaged or raided towns. Captain Maverick wasn't one of them. In all terms of the word, he played the role of the self-centered, arrogant hero. Scholars say that he was the absolute perfect fit for the role. The one with a flirty and cocky personality. The type that made you either hate him, love him or want to be him. The hero that gallantly sprang into action and saved his comrades and saved the girl.

Captain Killian Calnick Maverick was a hero in their eyes

The towering coal-black ship with sails of white and gold pulled into the dock, its shadow covering the massive crowd as the anchor dropped into the sea. A woman, with beautiful black hair and eyes, dark as the deepest parts of the ocean. She stands against the railing, with a wide amused grin, wearing untraditional clothing, dressed in a loose-fitting simple long-sleeved white dress, with a silver corset around her stomach, and beneath her bosoms. She was the definition of beauty.

Maverick appears by his wife's side, dressed to the extremes, looking like a traditional pirate, that one saw in movies and photos, with a color scheme of black and gold, a large tricorne ebony hat on his head, adorned with gold trim with black and white feathers. Even amongst his elegant clothing, one piece of jewelry he wore, that didn't match and even seemed far more eccentric than what the pirate was known for. The jewel was an emerald green eye tied onto a gold chain.

"The people awaited your return."

"As does the world. We will depart this time after two days and a single night, so you must enjoy all that you can." Maverick pinches his wife's cheek before giving a flirtatious wink and turning his back to his woman. She smiles as she watches him prance around and usher his crewmen to lower the wooden ramp quickly. The moment the board touches the ground, Maverick was already on it, parading down the piece of wood with a wide confident smirk and arms spread. The crowd cheers his name, and he drowns in their blinded appreciation.

"Captain Maverick, welcome to the Kingdom of Astrolia."

The Kingdom's Prince stood tall and proud, dressed in royal clothing. The colors of blue and white looked rather flattering. He was pale-skinned and had white hair, a rarity amongst the world, and only those from the Astrolia kingdom had such hair. "Prince Astros. An absolute pleasure to meet you. I have only heard good things." Maverick bows and the prince smiles, staring at the pirate with earnest blue eyes.

"The pleasure is truly mine."

Prince Helio Astros, the future King of Astrolia

He is the definition of generosity, the meaning of pure absolute kindness and honesty. Never would he wish harm to anyone and in war, he is neutral; he does not provoke nor gets provoked. Surrounding nations love him and he creates a true sense of unity. He has a powerful will and stands for his actions and mistakes. In every meaning of the word, he is perfect. No harm ever came to Astrolia.

Prince Helio Astros was the perfect ruler for Astrolia

The band of excellent musicians plays songs of the Kingdom and the King sits above the rest with a grin as the prince and the ball welcome the pirate guests. Cheers to the music and laughter of dancing, Maverick finds himself in the center of attention and he loves it. While his wife stands beside the prince and converses with him, the prince is beautiful, with unmatched beauty, unlike the fierce pirate captain, with rugged looks, with a never-changing face, and a piercing gaze. The prince had softer features. As if he was young as a child, with doe-like eyes and a kind, ecstatic grin.

"I thank you... To throw such an extravagant ball for him... You truly are kind."

"I would be ashamed to make you and your husband's stay any less grand." The prince is kind, unnoticed by the way she gazes with half-lidded eyes, with a small smile. As she twirls the glass in her hand, watching the red liquid swish around. "I am sure you will make your wife a fortunate woman." She speaks, and the prince stares at her, a smile on his face as he chuckles.

"A wife... I would solely be lucky to have one."

Captain Killian Calnick Maverick's Wife, the changer of fate

They say her name is lost within time, but her beauty is never forgotten. They say she was wicked but hides behind a sickly-sweet smile and the sway of her hips. Some applaud her for her actions, for the murder of those that deserve it, while some shun, for they truly weren't bad beings. She is a woman where not much is known of her but remains unforgettable.

Captain Killian Calnick Maverick's wife, the holder of the dagger

The candle flame flickers as if they soft whisper secrets. Within the bedroom of the ship, Maverick refused to stay within the Palace, announcing the sea brought him more comfort than solid ground ever could, and he'd be with his wife. With his shoulder-length messy black hair undone from its usual low ponytail, he lays shirtless against the bed, his chest rising and falling, scars decorating his tan skin. The pendant, the beautiful green jewel, still on his neck. His wife sits at her oak vanity desk, staring at herself through the mirror, getting ready for the night, listening to her husband's breathless, excited rambles.

"The ball he threw. To eat so lavishly every night and do nothing but dance... To been seen as their savior..."

"You would have to leave the sea... And find a place to settle."

His wife answers, putting her hair into a protective style, watching her husband through the mirror. Maverick throws his arms out, letting out a childlike laugh. "Or I build my palace on the sea—Imagine--The first floating palace, with large amazing sails, with some money, and the crew workin' hard. It could be done! I would be God."

His wife puts her hair into a silk bonnet, before climbing onto the bed, straddling the waist of her husband. "I believe it can." Her answer is simple and Maverick places his hands on her waist, staring at her with love-filled eyes, but her gaze is focused on the large scar along his chest. She runs her fingers along it, letting out a soft sigh. "It has healed...," her husband mutters, watching her wife shift, leaning down to kiss the scar.

"I am glad."

She places a gentle last kiss on his lips, before sliding off him and laying on the side of his body. Her husband lets out a tired yawn, letting out a quiet goodnight. The captain drifts off into a gentle sleep, but his wife remains awake, carefully slipping out of his embrace. The gentle and kind look in her eyes is gone; she glares with disdain.

Some say the woman never wanted to marry the man. Some say that before he held the title of "Hero", Captain Maverick was just like any other barbarous, murderous, terrible, violence-ridden pirate. Some say that he raided a small town, found the most beautiful of women, and forced them to survive in horrid conditions, the survivor became his wife, and their bodies were tossed into the sea. While others say she was a whore, going from town to town, rich man to rich man. Sucking them dry before her next victim, before being tamed by the "hero".

She removes her bonnet and undoes her hair, moving across the room silently, moving towards one of Maverick's prized possessions, his father's dagger. With a long silver blade and black handle, with the words 'For my son, Killian' engraved into the blade.

She takes the weapon down from the wall. The rest of the crew are all ready, all prepared for the death of the Tyrant who's delusional to the term "Hero". She moves and straddles his hips again, like a cruel sense of fate, her right holding the dagger, her left grabbing her husband's face.

"Beloved. I need you to know how much I—"

Her husband slowly dances back into consciousness, staring at his wife with confused eyes, unable to speak, as the dagger sinks into his stomach as she continues. "--You solely existing brings me such pain, such anguish. I wish you rot within the hottest of pits and that the devil himself consumes every inch of you." With each other word, with each second, she twists the blade. The man finds himself speechless, groaning, and writhing in pain. She pulls away, yanking the dagger from his body.

"Toss him into the sea, and the ship is yours."

The sailors. His sailors, move into the room. As their captain tries to fight back, the room suddenly feels dizzy, and the woman watches as they carry her ex-husband near the side of the ship. Attaching chains and heavy iron balls to his ankles, a pathetic cry leaves his lips. "Why...?" Everyone halts and glances at each other before the wife lets out a sigh.

"... The ocean is vast and maybe in such a different life will you be that of a good person..."

Captain Killian Calnick Maverick's Ex-Wife, the Changer of Fate

They say the woman was stranded in the Kingdom of Astrolia, the ship leaving without a single word and gone the next day. The woman appeared at the palace, clothing torn and bloodied. They say the prince found her and took care of her, and the two fell in love, but the Pirate Captain Killian Calnick Maverick was never heard from again.
