"What did the Human Resources Officer say when you were invited into the office?"
Charlie broke the silence while still eating dinner with Paula.
Before answering the question, Paula drank a glass of water. "They're asking about my resignation; they want me to leave as soon as possible because Luis is returning."
"That's the only reason?" Charlie couldn't believe Paula's revelation. Paula only gave a quick nod in response.
"You know them from the beginning. Even some of the Sunsky employees inherited the Salcedo family's cruelty. I have no doubt when the entire family got estranged from one of their own family members. Their prejudice against poor people is really understated, and it's ironic that their company's tagline is to help the poor community," Paula lamented.
"I'll find a way to keep you from being terminated," Charlie promised.
"Don't do that. Maybe I can ask my roommate to refer me to the company she's currently working at," Paula replied, gulping for a moment.
