The second day of marriage meetings went off without a hitch. Thanks to the fact the last woman stormed out early, Lillian was able to relax for the rest of the day. Or at least try her best to.
Andrew Geldan seemed more disinterested than anyone else today, so she was able to end the weekend unscathed.
Time to use that spa voucher! I could really go for a sauna and massage to get me through this 12 day work week.
"Hey, mom. Do you want to get a massage with me?"
"Oh, honey. Dad and I already used our vouchers yesterday when you were out with your friends. Go on and have fun without me."
"I wish I was with friends. I was stuck with work both yesterday and today." Lillian sighed. Her parents had already gone to dinner by the time she got back to their room last night, then ended staying out til midnight for karaoke in the bar downstairs.
Why are my parents having more fun than I am? Aren't I the one who should be enjoying my twenties! Next weekend, I'm definitely going out to whatever crazy event Jacky has planned.
"Oh, honey bun. You're always working so hard. Let's have dinner together when you're done with your spa trip."
"Alright, it'll be my treat! See you in a bit," Lillian grabbed her phone and left their room.
In the spa.
The sweet floral scent of rosehip filled the air, as the masseuse worked out a tight knot on her upper back.
"Ma'am, your upper back might be one of the tightest I've work on all month. I suggest you take weekly herb and salt baths to ease the tension."
"Oh, okay. I'll think about it," Lillian muffled from the head rest squeezing her cheeks together.
Of course my back is tense! All the stress of going to work tomorrow is really bugging me out. Sure, Peter said he'd talk to the CEO, but I'm not holding my hopes up. Who knows, maybe I'll be greeted with a mop bucket tomorrow and be order to clean the entire building. Sob. That's 35 freaking floors!
You know what, the CEO also had to work through the weekend. Well, kind of. Maybe he'll take the day off tomorrow! That's what someone in his position would do right?
Lillian jumped around from thought to thought, thinking up every possible scenario that could greet her at work tomorrow.
The masseuse finally managed to work out the massive knot and Lillian felt her whole body relax.
Ah, right. I should just let my mind go blank now, let's not worry about work during my me time.
About an hour and a half later, Lillian finished her spa break and made her way to the hotel restaurant to eat dinner with her parents.
The large hotel had 3 different restaurants inside. A bar restaurant, a classy Michelin star restaurant, and a casual formal restaurant. Her family chose to dine in the latter, where they were sat in a wooden booth with pillows on each end. Her mother and father decided to share a seafood salad and spaghetti bolognese, while Lillian opted for the soup of the day, surprised by prices on the menu for the meal she'd promised to pay. Luckily, the restaurant provided complementary fresh bread with the meal, so she would get enough to satiate her appetite.
Ah, if I ever get a higher paying job, I'll definitely come back and try the braised short ribs. Lillian's mouth began to water at the thought, as she saw the delicious looking dish served to the couple at the table next to them.
"Um, Lillian. Your father and I have something we'd like to discuss with you," her mom suddenly snapped her out from her food filled dreams.
"Hmm, what is it?" Her lips formed a small pout, nervous about serious tone with which her mother brought up the topic.
"Well, Lil," her father started. "As you know, money has been a little tight since the shop closed down. We talked with Ben earlier today and it sounds like he and grandpa have started doing really well with the farm since they were interviewed for that TV show, 'Back to the Roots', last summer. Apparently, they're even thinking about expanding to having an online shop to sell health and beauty products made from natural ingredients grown by them and nearby farms... I'm not really good with the whole online thing, but they asked if I would think about going to work with them since I have experience running a store of my own."
"And, with all the repairs the house needs, this seemed like a good time to move and enjoy life outside the city before we get old," her mom chimed in, with an excited look on her face.
"I've always wanted to enjoy the fresh air of the countryside!" She added.
Her mom had been born in the city and grew up a city girl through and through. She met her dad when he was in town visiting a friend at the teaching university. They happened to be at the same party one night, and he moved in with his friend a month later. This had caused a rift between him and her grandfather for a couple years, until he went back home to visit with her then pregnant mom and fiancée. Their first child, her older brother, Benjamin, always got along great with their grandfather and even went to help out on the farm every summer before moving there to work full time four years ago.
"Oh." Lillian could not come up with any words, what did this mean for her. Would she have to move with them and leave the city behind. Or did she have to find a place to stay asap.
"We know this must be a lot to take in, but we we already have a meeting with a real estate agent scheduled for tomorrow to talk about putting the house up for sale." Her mother added, flashing her an apologetic smile.
"What? How soon are you planning on moving? What about me, how am I supposed to find a place on such short notice?" Lillian raised her voice slightly, garnering some looks from the tables beside them.
"Oh honey, we wouldn't just leave you behind. Of course, you're welcome to come with us, but I know how much you wanted to find a job in the city. Maybe you can stay with that Jacky girl you're always talking about. She sounds nice based on the way you've described her."
"The house sale could go pretty quickly based on what the realtor told us. If we lower the price because of the needed repairs, she predicted it could sell by the end of the week," her father added in. "Your grandparents already have a room made up for us for when we decide to move."
"So it's already decided? You just decided to tell me all of this after you've already made the decision to up and leave without consulting me first?" Lillian hurriedly drank the rest of her soup and left the table. She made sure to pay for their meal with a waiter at the front, then headed on up back to the hotel room first.
