"No, you're not. Who did you hear that from?" answered and asked Shane.
Somehow Shane couldn't tell the truth at a time like this. He didn't want Jade to walk away from him if he was telling the truth. And according to him, keeping the secret as it should is the best option.
"Are you serious? So I'm not your mate or anyone's mate?" Jade asked him.
Shane nodded. Jade looked so relieved and it made Shane hurt a little seeing Jade's expression.
"And about your wound," Shane said as he looked at the scar on Jade's hand.
He sighed. "A wolf's bite can't be lost on a human body, Jade."
Shane had to lie to her. At least that was what he had to do with Jade at this point. Lie to her with lies that won't stress her out.
"Ah, I see. I'm so relieved then. I think something happened to this wound that won't go away."
