Almost every school has such a legend.
That the school is built on a burial ground.
In fact, many times, this legend is true.
At least for the kindergarten in front of He Ao, it was.
During the urbanization process, land that was originally a burial ground is generally unwelcome for property developers to take over and build upon. After all, when buying a home, people generally don't want their house to have a view of a graveyard.
Thus, most of this kind of land ends up being developed into public facilities such as schools or parks.
The land on which this kindergarten stood used to be the communal cemetery for the village nearby.
Later, with urban development, the ancestors buried in this cemetery were exhumed. Some were relocated, while others were cremated and taken to a city public cemetery.
But no one was willing to take over this plot of land. Eventually, a developer bought it intending to build a private kindergarten on it.
