Tori was a low-ranking member of the Crocodile Gang. In fact, he wasn't an old-timer with the Crocodile Gang; his original gang had been annexed by them, and he had only joined the Crocodile Gang recently.
However, his former leader had secured a good position within the Crocodile Gang by surrendering promptly, which incidentally elevated Tori as well, sparing him from the need to engage in fights and killings outside. He was reassigned to work as a security guard for the Research Institute.
The job wasn't highly respected, but it was leisurely and paid well.
Tori never actually wanted to join a gang, but having been born in Aston District, if he didn't turn bad, his family would be bullied by bad people. Ending up with this leisurely job was quite in line with his wishes.
He stood at the entrance of the Research Institute, lost in idle thoughts.
