Chapter 2 - Ruins of the past

I stepped inside a random little insignificant ruin and went to look inside to look at various paintings and old writing that I did not understand were carved into the walls and large boulders lying everywhere in the sandy ground. The ruin only had one corridor so I couldn't go other than straight.

I walked down a corridor that from time to time turned around like some kind of maze and after about 8 minutes of the journey I arrived at the dead end of this ruin.

As I watched so uninterestedly the wall that forms the end of this tunnel, I heard the wind blowing in the echoes. With nothing to keep me here, I quickly made my way back to see what was going on. As soon as I got to the entrance again I saw that there was a very strong sandstorm outside. I didn't know when the storm would go away so I stayed inside.

Damn! It looks like today really isn't my day. Because I didn't want to bathe in the sand winds of the storm and make my way back to the campsite. Only to then wander through the desert for a few days and die If I had lost myself in the storm. I turned back and decided to wait inside until the storm stopped.

I walked through the tunnel for 4 minutes and found a good boulder to sit on. I waited for the storm to disappear. While I was waiting, I got an idea how to shorten my time by practicing shooting at a target with stones.

As a target, I chose a carved painting on which a woman sat on a large throne and in front of her were people on their knees who were looking into the ground. Almost as much like my sister. At home, she sat on the couch as if it were a throne and watched TV while I had cleaned the floor. The more I thought on it, even more motivated I was to hit her face by stone as hard as I could.

Throwing stones into the wall was very fun. The more I threw into it, the more cracks appeared on it, but the stones I threw into the wall were destroyed and crumbled after a while. Without any more stones to throw into the wall, I went deeper inside the tunnel of the ruins to find new ones that could be well thrown and thus destroy the painting on the wall. Not that the painting was later put into a museum or anything like that.

As I was looking for some stones in the sandy ground, I found a piece of old rope that was covered with sand. The rope looked like it was knitted from human hair, so I wanted to take it out to get a better look at it. However, as soon as I pulled it to pull it out, the rope stretched towards the wall where the other carved paintings were. Curious where the second tied end of the rope ended, I pulled him to me and went where it led.

I walked about 3 meters forward before I found out that its end was tied somewhere under the wall. The fact that the rope was tied under a wall that was at least a thousand years old was really weird. I saw it as a challenge and tried to pull the rope out with as much force as possible.

At that moment, I heard the crack of wood and I managed to pull the rope out, almost falling to the ground at that speed.

While I was holding the rope, I looked at the place from where I heard the crack of wood and saw a piece of stone brick fell out of the wall where rope was tied. Astonished, I went to look closer. In the place where the stone stood, all that was left was a hole where was a small wooden box, which was almost on the verge of decay.

What the fuck is that? Is this supposed to be a thousand-year-old trap or something. I looked at the box a little nervously and after organizing my thoughts, I quickly took out the box and stepped back a few steps. But after I took the box out nothing else happened.

Hahaha! I'm really naïve that I thought it would be a trap. I should probably stop watching so many horror movies. But now we should look at what you are hiding in yourself.

I hope you have gold coins or other valuables in you if you've been hidden here for so many years. From that moment on, I could call myself a treasure hunter and my path to fame would be easier.

I sat on the ground where I put the box and began to search it. The box was made of black wood and there was a sign or symbol on the top lid but it was no longer recognizable. Luckly for me, the box had no lock and I could look what was in side.

Even though Christmas will be coming after a long time, I can consider this gift as a bonus gift from Santa Claus. And without waiting any more, I opened the box and looked at what was inside.
