She connected the call, hugging her pillow as she spoke to him.
"What are you doing, William?" she asked.
At the same time her words fell, the apartment door was knocked.
"Someone's knocking. I'll see who it is," Cherish Turner said uncertainly, holding her phone on her way to the door.
But when she opened the door, there stood William Griffith, holding his thin coat in one hand and his phone in the other. He lifted one corner of his lips, a charming smile on his face.
Cherish Turner was stunned, she did not expect him to be standing outside her apartment.
Through the openwork security door, William Griffith looked into her eyes and said heavily, "I've been thinking about you."
