"What could he possibly be so busy with all day, other than spending time with that girl!"
Hearing the elderly lady say this, Grace Harper spoke up in a tone of grievance, "Cherish isn't having an easy time either. I saw her at People's Hospital today. Her brother seems to have been injured and is in the hospital. It's only natural that William is concerned."
The older relatives interpreted her words in this way: Cherish Turner was pulling William Griffith away to care for her injured brother. Therefore, William's decision not to accompany Grace was because of Cherish.
"Cherish Turner has a brother?" The old lady was shrewd. When she first met Cherish, William had said that her father was in the import-export business abroad, leaving only Cherish in the country. So, how does she have a brother now?
"Ah, I'm not entirely certain, but it seems to be the case." Grace answered her grandmother's question as such.
