Chapter 126 - Side story : Misguided key of wind thelema [V] (Last)

In the previous chapter, the protagonist Chung Cheng Liang, who had acquired the body of Cid Kagenou willingly offered by him to the noble soul, was just a step away from obtaining his abundant and highly satisfying reward.

He only needed a little more push to acquire a parcel containing many SR and SSR treasures.

However, the arrival of a villain clad in red, who suddenly emerged from a pillar of light soaring into the sky, had thwarted his efforts.

The figure clad in red, he soon discovered, was the one who had killed many of his subordinates and disrupted his plans greatly. There were many experience points he couldn't gather due to the actions of this red-clad figure.

Additionally, in their initial encounter, the red-clad individual revealed many details known only to himself. Starting from his true identity, even up to how he arrived in that world.

There's no doubt that the presence of this red-clad figure was exceedingly dangerous. If allowed to live, he would only become a terrifying entity capable of thwarting the protagonist's, his noble purpose in that world.

Therefore... with power surging throughout his entire being, the protagonist made the decision to become a hero who would eliminate this disruptive figure for his own good and for the world he chose to invade.

...

....

.....

Beyond the shattered automatic entrance, rendered in ruins due to its fragile glass construction, a scene marred by the haphazard sprawl of numerous lifeless bodies.

Lifeless forms of hospital staff, patients, and even visitors lay strewn across the premises, a disheartening scene that spoke of the tragedy that had befallen.

The thick, slightly congealed scent of blood made those who beheld it feel a touch queasy. Adding to the unsettling ambiance were the macabre remains of the bodies, seemingly deliberately mutilated at specific points, heightening the discomfort even further.

Indeed, it was a sight dominated by numerous scattered lifeless bodies.

"Chisato! Over there."「Inoue Takina」

Although they shared this thought, there was still another matter they were more determined to confirm.

Spotting a colossal hole piercing through the hospital's ceiling, Inoue Takina, who had been gripping her pistol all along, called over a blonde girl dressed in red uniform to confirm the discovery she had just witnessed.

Their arrival shouldn't have been necessary, but in a twist of fate, there they both are, after witnessing a pillar of light piercing through the clouds from the hospital area.

"Wuaaah... it's enormous, how much explosive material was used for this? But, this time the target is Tsugu-chan, isn't it? Just as I thought,"「Nishikigi Chisato」

Nishikigi Chisato also drew her specialized weapon.

Unlike Inoue Takina, who was already on alert in case of a collapse from above. She appeared remarkably composed both when drawing her pistol and when loading the special ammunition she favored.

One calm and one vigilant, they formed a combo pair with slightly different personalities. However, their decision was the same – to head straight for the emergency stairs after reporting the situation they had uncovered.

"I've informed Mizuki-san about the situation here. Back-up will arrive in seven minutes. Let's hurry."「Inoue Takina」

"On the fourth floor, right?"「Nishikigi Chisato」

"Room 407."「Inoue Takina」

"Okey Takina. I trust you with the lead this time—"「Nishikigi Chisato」

They both moved their feet towards the emergency staircase to reach the floor where Hatoba Tsugu was located. Inoue Takina led the way, with Nishikigi Chisato still wearing her cheerful expression much like a young girl at a camp.

However, not long after Inoue Takina took a few steps past the colossal hole, her expression changed instantly as she caught a glimpse of a shadow, descending suddenly from the hole and appearing behind her still unaware companion.

With a swiftness that defied human limits, Nishikigi Chisato took aim and fired at the mysterious figure. However, to her dismay, the bullets were effortlessly deflected, having no impact on the shadowy being.

"Takina!"「Nishikigi Chisato」

Realizing the futility of her shots, she raised her voice to alert Inoue Takina.

The blonde girl quickly dashed toward them, her hope being to intervene and drive the shadowy figure away from her partner. Enough to make her couldn't even realize the two figures who had just descended from the same hole and were now behind her.

"Hmm... please hold on for a moment, Hatoba-san. We're going to jump from here. I'll go first, and you follow, okay? I'll catch you."

"Nod I'll try."「Hatoba Tsugu 」

No, perhaps it was more accurate to say that Nishikigi Chisato felt it was more important to save Inoue Takina than to confront these two figures.

However, she wouldn't get the chance, as a sword was swiftly drawn from its scabbard and swung directly towards Inoue Takina's shoulder.

"Huh?"「Inoue Takina」

"What a fortune!" ☆Chung Cheng Liang☆

What happened next was as expected, the sound of a blade blade cutting through the surging wind and then changing to the sound of flesh and bone being shattered by the sharp iron cutting them, resounded to those who could hear it.

Starting from her right shoulder to almost her chest, Inoue Takina was almost split in two, just an inch away from died in instant.

However as if the protagonist wanted to mock Nishikigi Chisato who was late in saving her friend, he pulled out his blade from Inoue Takina as he echoed a taunting laughter, ridiculing the blonde with his twisted mercy.

"Do you want to save her? But it seems she'll meet her end soon." ☆Chung Cheng Liang☆

"She won't after I get her out of here—uhggk?!!"「Nishikigi Chisato」

The protagonist deliberately let the girl with long black hair writhe on the floor with a gaping wound in her shoulder, before he then shifted his attention to Nishikigi Chisato in order to take her down as long the figure clad in red didn't disturb him again.

Every time she was about to pull the trigger, the Lycoris girl was always disrupted.

"Useless, no matter how many times you tried it'll all be for naught." ☆Chung Cheng Liang☆

How benevolent he was—the protagonist even allowed Inoue Takina, who was on the brink of death due to her carelessness, to have her own moment of tranquility by making Nishikigi Chisato unable to fire a loud gunshot from her pistol.

Surrounded by her own blood, her face also grew pallid, much like a plucked flower left to wither on the ground. A raspy voice she tried to voice onto her friend.

"Chi...sato...run..."「Inoue Takina」

"As if I'll do. Just hold on, Takina!"「Nishikigi Chisato」

She was not giving up—no, she refused to.

As long as Inoue Takina remained conscious, she believed that her partner's life could still be saved. Well of course her partner could be saved, but only if she could get past the Protagonist who wouldn't let his own efforts go in vain.

"Ghhhaahhh?!! Just move!"「Nishikigi Chisato」

"Good! Let me hear more of your pain." ☆Chung Cheng Liang☆

Because just like the leader of Shadow Garden, the man who proclaimed himself as the Shadow is dominant. Different from his usual self in Mob-mode of Cid Kagenou, it looks like the real Chung Cheng Liang had indeed been slightly influenced by that Mc's way of thought.

Moving on, although she was dubbed the greatest Lycoris, Nishikigi Chisato felt like this was the first time she'd encountered an opponent so overwhelmingly strong.

Whether it was reflexes and speed, or strength and precision, all advantages seemed to lie in the hands of the enigmatic figure dressed in dark attire. He even toyed with her by slashing each part of her cloths in a very peculiar area around her chest and thigh.

He truly seemed like a powerful character who preferred to lurk in the shadows.

"You're almost ready." ☆Chung Cheng Liang☆

"Wearing that cosplay-like outfit, don't tell me you can use magic too, huh?!"「Nishikigi Chisato」

As time dwindled away, she found herself being toyed with by the unattractive man who always wore a strange smile. This further escalated her inability to control her emotions.

"Hold up, time to switch."

She wanted to charge at the protagonist who was intentionally trying to tire her, but her intentions had already been noticed by the figure who had been watching from afar.

Although the presence of the person clad in red was truly repulsive to the Protagonist, in the end, the person clad in red decided to interfere in matters that weren't his concern.

"Heeh~ You dare, fleeing the moment we meet and immediately going after that girl. Is that your true mentality? Or does it belong to Lord Cid Kagenou that's left?"

"You have nothing to do with this, be silent and go sell your tasteless meatballs or whatever. And you, kid over there... you're next." ☆Chung Cheng Liang☆

"Let go! I need to save Takina!"「Nishikigi Chisato」

His gaze matched his charisma as the owner of Shadow Garden, and the ultimatum he made were indeed like a forewarning to those who dared to oppose him.

Even a young child like Hatoba Tsugu had come to realize how terrifying Chung Cheng Liang's sharp glare was, compelling her to hide behind the figure clad in red.

The Protagonist truly had no opponent capable of stopping him. With a power multiplied many times over compared to before, and now being able to control this power after the sparring with the rebellious chicks, he felt truly extraordinary.

"Calm down a bit Chisato-san, I'm sure we'll managed to help your friend, but he's definitely out of your league. And Hatoba-san, could you please cover your ears. I really don't want to let you hear his words."

"Like this?"「Hatoba Tsugu」

"Yep, good girl. I'm sorry I can't reward you this time, but next time I may."

It was truly a miracle bestowed upon the figure known as Shadow, the Leader of Shadow Garden, who had attained a superior soul from the great realm. This newfound greatness suited him perfectly.

A genius who could learn from the examples of experts, a zero-to-hero who had climbed the social pyramid and even received the blessing of a divine being, granting him a world he could protect from the ill intentions of others.

"Huuhhh... even after experiencing our difference in power, to thing you can still thought like that. What an idiot you are, third rate trash." ☆Chung Cheng Liang☆

He had become the one controlling the dark world without many people's knowledge. He was the one who had spread his notoriety, making his enemies unable to sleep peacefully when night fell. Not even the DA and Alan Institute could stop his march.

"Be honest, deep down you're scared, aren't you? But don't worry, as a reward for giving me three heads, I'll put yours alongside them." ☆Chung Cheng Liang☆

He's an extra but extraordinary, a mob yet held a more significant spotlight than anyone else. Everyone truly wanted to be in his shoes, powerful, feared, magnificent, and always standing above others.

"I'll cut them and turned their flesh into piece of art, much different from this girl over here. Don't worry, you'll be left alive to gaze upon my work. Not to those girls though, ahahaha!" ☆Chung Cheng Liang☆

He stood above Alpha, the leader of the organization capable of destroying many cities if they so wished. He was none other than the savior of that world, far more supreme than the saint herself.

Praise Chung Cheng Liang!

Praise the Shadow, the Leader of Shadow Garden!

Every desire of his would surely come to fruition because he was...

The Protagonist of this story.

"..."

...

Allowing the little girl in the beret hat to be under Nishikigi Chisato's protection, the person clad in red adjusted the hat that sat on Hatoba Tsugu's head.

From the sleeve of the person clad in red, there seemed to be a creature that slithered into Hatoba Tsugu's beret hat. It resembled a small snake, reminiscent of the ones occasionally found in the grass by the roadside.

"(Whisper) Get ready, Yjor."

"Yes?"「Hatoba Tsugu」

"You're really cute Hatoba-san, now don't leave this big sis side. And you, blondie, I'll get her for you."

He didn't forget to reassure Nishikigi Chisato, who was starting to grasp the identity of the person who had inadvertently made the little girl to be slightly embarrassed.

"... please then."「Nishikigi Chisato」

Having finished his preparations, he casually walked towards Chung Cheng Liang, ready once again with a plan to confront and bring down the Protagonist.

But no matter how many plans he devised, he should have known they would fail in front of someone who controlled the body of the Shadow, the leader of Shadow Garden.

"Oh? You're approaching me? Instead of running away, you come right to me?" ☆Chung Cheng Liang☆

How foolish he was to dare to challenge the SHADOW, the peerless of SHADOW GARDEN. A figure truly atomic and revered by his admirers.

Furthermore, he was no longer the Cid Kagenou who merely sought to be an edgylord, but someone who wanted to extend his wings to those who were lost in life.

To then offer salvation that would also make him stronger.

"... I know JOJO meme can literally save anything, but you're definitely not one of those thing, haha."

No matter what makeshift power he used, it was all but imitation. They would not be able to match the unmatched power of Shadow, especially after receiving a multiplier increase from the greatest System of them all.

What a useless effort by that antagonist.

What a joke his bravery and conviction were.

What a repulsive individual behaving close to a child.

What a rascal who dared to stand before him and still remained calm.

What a...

...

What a nonsense.

"Hey, Ching Cheng Hanji can't touch me at all kitchen in the dungeon I swear to god I'm not Ban Paul, or should I say with your other name, Fadil bayangan!"

Indeed, what a load of crap.

Enough with this type of script, and let's return to how my usual style used to be.

"I know you're enjoying all those power-up notif, but can you end the euphoria? I don't like seeing people so happy."

Just like the one who write this, he felt he had had enough of his nice guy attitude and decided to become what Chung Cheng Liang wanted. A character suited to stand before a main character, that is, the antagonist.

All this time, Chung Cheng Liang had been behaving as if he could end this battle whenever he pleased. However, he would be fooling himself if he thought he could win or even defeat his opponent.

"Please get her out of here, send her away."

In a surprising turn of events, from the direction of the emergency door stained with Inoue Takina's blood, the door suddenly swung open with a powerful jolt.

It startled all of them, especially when they saw several ropes immediately binding and pulling the injured girl into the door, which closed again like a monster devouring its prey.

"She'll be taken to where your companion waits. Hurry, go with this child. Your time is running out."

The person clad in red lied as naturally as breathing, and then pushed the two girls to leave through the main exit, unaware that Chung Cheng Liang had been frozen in place, unmoving, since earlier.

"Is that from your friend?"「Nishikigi Chisato」

"Friend? Hmm, more like my brother. He's very suited in binding, I think Mizuki was it? Go call her and you'll find your friend right there."

"... You even know about Mizuki-san, are you actually the informant?"「Nishikigi Chisato」

Hearing the girl's words, the person clad in red recalled his deliberate stalking of Hatoba Tsugu and the numerous clues he had provided about the incident where the girls went missing and his connection to the organization called Shadow Garden.

Initially, he had intended to correct that assumption, but seeing Hatoba Tsugu who could still hear him, for some reason, he felt nervous and decided not to reveal the truth.

"Informant? Noon-non-no, I'm just a red guy with red blood in my heart. "

"As if that'll work on me, I'm really going back here if Takina is not there. You got that?"「Nishikigi Chisato」

"Aye, you can sit or pin my face with your thigh if you want to."

Although he didn't mind joking around, the girl emphasized once again that she still couldn't trust him. For now, Nishikigi Chisato would step away from the battle, prioritizing Hatoba Tsugu's safety.

They both walked past the shattered glass and headed to the point that the Lycoris girl knew from her pick-up. Not long after Nishikigi Chisato spoke to someone through her communication device, she briefly stopped her steps to look back at the man.

"👍"「Nishikigi Chisato」

"👌"

Thankfully, what he had said was true. Inoue Takina was indeed at her intended destination. This prompted her and Hatoba Tsugu to leave the scene.

Oddly, there's a peculiar expression on the little girl's face, she appeared to be sad and worried as they distanced themselves from the hospital. However regardless of that, the person clad in red waved his hand as he watched her leave with Nishikigi Chisato.

Now that all unnecessary roles had vanished, he felt a return to calmness. Even though he heard sirens and the noisy helicopter blades approaching from a distance, there was still enough time to settle his affairs.

"Now then, begin shall we?"

The sound of the crushed glass beneath their feet produced a crisp noise. Turning his body towards the protagonist who had been frozen and unable to move, the person clad in red then pulled out a flintlock that looked quite old-fashioned but still had a vintage charm.

——————————————

What was that...

Chung Cheng Liang found himself puzzled, his thoughts racing as he continued to stand there without blinking.

There's no doubt that what he had seen inside the door was nothing more than a few old ropes commonly used to restrain animals, not much different from the ropes used by farmers.

He was confident that he could cut those ropes if he wished, ensuring that the girl named Takina couldn't escape from him, yet he didn't.

Because for some reason, when he looked at those ropes...

His body felt as if he couldn't move, all control he had seemed to vanish, and all his strength felt drained even though there was no exhausting battle that took it away.

There was no chilling sensation, no sense of time standing still. He could still breathe like a regular person and think without being tainted by fear.

Everything felt normal, indeed.

Everything... felt normal, as if there was nothing peculiar at all.

He could still be alive just like usual, he could still feel his identity as a being reincarnated from another world as usual, he could even still taste the blood trickling from his mouth.

But it was different for his System, which had received the power of some random omnipotent being. That 'thing' which hold some portions of otherworldly piece of omnipotent, are the most delicious treats for those hungry with attention.

What is this!?

As he scrutinized the state of his System, a sinking feeling enveloped him, a sensation akin to a foreboding shadow lurking in the corners of his consciousness.

It was not his own well-being in question, but the very essence of his System seemed to tremble under the insidious invasion of a digital virus, an intruder in the realm of his newfound omnipotence.

The boundaries between himself and his System blurred, and he couldn't escape the disconcerting realization that his understanding faltered in the face of this enigmatic intrusion.

No, it has to be illusion!

Even with the awareness that Chung Cheng Liang was a reincarnator, the notion that someone could tamper with a system granted by the divine was beyond his comprehension. It defied the very principles he had come to understand.

The question loomed large: how could a mere glimpse of an old, weathered rope hold such profound sway over the intricate workings of his strongest domains?

It was a clash between the rational understanding of his circumstances and the overwhelming sense of vulnerability that had been triggered.

Even though he had acquired numerous enhancements, and his System should have shielded him from mental assaults like this, doubts began to creep in. After all, his System was designed to protect him from such manipulations.

He reassured himself that no matter what glimpses he caught of his previous life, the rogue scoundrel couldn't possibly exploit his deepest fears. This thought persisted, serving as a defiant bulwark against the encroaching reality.

No matter how vividly his previous life unfolded before him, he clung to the belief that this couldn't truly threaten him.

Certainly, this had to be nothing more than an illusion! The System and its template were unparalleled in greatness. There was no way anything—

〈Hͥ̽ͣ̃̔ẹ̿͋̒̕ā̤̓̍͘ḑ̴̞͛̒ l̙͖̑̾ͣỉ͔͖̜͌s̠҉͍͊ͅt̲̂̓ͩ̑〉(:)

It was a sensation beyond the ordinary scope of human emotions, defying the boundaries of what he had ever known. It was as if the very fabric of his being was swaying on the edge of comprehension, a chasm overlooking the enigmatic abyss of existence.

It was an understanding that transcended mere logic and reason, a glimpse into the tapestry of existence itself. The barriers of his consciousness seemed to dissolve, revealing a reality that was both awe-inspiring and unsettling.

It was a revelation that whispered of forgotten truths, of the interplay between dimensions, and of the enigmatic dance of forces beyond mortal kin.

A fraction of existence that bore the weight of eternity, urging him to grapple with the infinite complexity of his own being.

What... is this...

"Ah, my apologies. I suppose merely glimpsing it is already excessive, isn't it? I forgot how effective it can be against your kind."

His body trembled, every vein echoing a silent scream. He struggled to move his neck, to turn towards the voice — a voice belonging to someone bearing a form and an aura of bloody hue.

Yet, futile were his attempts, for his body seemed restrained by a strange force, frozen in place by an enigmatic power.

"You must be quite bewildered now. 'Why am I like this?', 'What has happened?', 'What did I truly witness earlier?' Perhaps those are the thoughts racing through your mind? Haha, easy to read aren't cha."

The red clad figure then stood before him. The face adorned with tattoos looked vastly different from the person he had encountered while selling meatballs. Moreover at that time, he did not possess such an imposing form.

And his eyes weren't like that either.

In his grasp was that gun, a relic from a bygone era, seemingly inadequate compared to modern firearms. It appeared more like an antique piece, worthy of display rather than practical use in the present world.

"... You know, what you just saw before was never actually a rope or anything like that. That 'Rope' you see, is actually a 'hand', limbs from someone or 'something' if I were to use you guys phrase. But well, I'm the only one who could see it though."

He seemed to be taking his time, leisurely handling his antique-looking firearm and loading ammunition at a pace that was far too relaxed.

His face wore an irritating expression, pushing Chung Cheng Liang to just wanted to chop off that head which had been standing in front of him so casually all this time.

Yet, no matter how vehemently he raged or how fiercely he displayed his anger, it was all in vain against whatever resided within his and Cid Kagenou's body.

"So... Ching Cheng Hanji, or Fadil bayangan. Can you tell me what you will do if you manage to capture all three of them? What happens next on your agenda is something that I wanna know."

Seeing him finished with reloading his pistol, Chung Cheng Liang continued to taunt him through his thoughts. There's no way he would reveal all that, especially since he can't speak right now. 'Truly foolish!' is what Chung Cheng Liang thought.

However, he didn't realize that the foolish one was himself.

"Heeh, I guess that's how you gain your cheat after all. Will you let them die as virgin?"

Though he didn't show it, at that moment, Chung Cheng Liang felt surprised and fearful. A combination of emotions surfaced when he took over Cid Kagenou's body, pretending to be the shadowy figure, Fadil— I mean, the Shadow of Shadow Garden.

He also tried to conceal the memories that brought him the most joy and happiness, which, of course, were utterly useless in the presence of the person clad in red.

"You feel so delighted? Ahahaha, just as I suspected, inflicting suffering on others is indeed a peculiar pleasure, isn't it? And coincidentally, it seems we share that similarity."

The stream of thoughts continued to flood into the mind of the person clad in red, transforming from one beautiful girl to another, from the young ones to teenagers, and those who had families.

"You're skilled in mutilation too!? Wow, you've amassed quite a number! As I suspected, we do share similarities, although I don't just target women like you."

With a conversational tone, the person clad in red appeared to revel in glee every time he accessed Chung Cheng Liang's memories, which the latter was desperately trying to conceal.

He's truly delighted to have encountered someone who shares the same morbid fascination, much like when he cursed his fate for encountering a kindred spirit in such interests.

"If there is a figure that is my preference the most, it's none other than myself. I really want to kill myself, but unfortunately many people don't allow it, you know?"

Starting from how he made a small child named Kurumi lose her hand to crying in pain, then changed to the moment he stabbed Alpha, who was the figure that the real Cid Kagenou had picked up in the past.

It continues to where he destroyed the lives of the girls on his head list.

"That's why I'm very grateful to have met you, I told you you look like me, didn't I?"

The trigger was pulled.

"Don't worry, there's no heaven or hell awaiting someone like me. So, you can stop hoping for forgiveness. See you next time."

And then, he fired.
