Chapter 65 - THE SAMURAI AND THE SHRINE MAIDEN PART 1 (THE TEMPLE OF LIGHT)

Several days later, as Kiyoshi nears his destination, he seems to get opposition from Lilly, Tyrook, and Kivuli as to the mission destination.

"Kiyo, are you sure you heard Sairon correctly as to where this mission is taking place," Lilly asked with a concerned tone of voice, to which Kiyoshi replied yes the northern light temple you were there when he said it. You all were there stop acting like we are not going the correct way.

"I knew it, that bastard Sairon is sending Kiyoshi to his death. After years of using the kid now he sends him to the northern light temple to die that bastard and the poor kid is going all with it clueless to the painful end that is about to meet him."Tyrook shouted while also cursing Sairon's name in an unknown demonic tongue.

"I hope you're not trying to put a dark spell on my master Tyrook. And relax master Sairon will never do anything to put me in harm's way the fact that the mission is located in the northern light temple just amplifies how serious it must be and why I must hurry to reach there soon." Kiyoshi responded reassuring Tyrook of their safety.

"Kiyoshi are you sure about this? The light temples are home to monks trained in light magic that we are weak to. Plus you are on their wanted list just as you are with the peacemakers. And lastly, the northern light temple is said to be home to the strongest monks of the order including home to the abbot monk as well as the shrine maiden is said to reside in the northern temple as well. Do you really want to risk it" Kivuli remarked in a smooth tone of voice as he tries to reason with Kiyoshi.

"I understand all of you guys' points. Lilly, Tyrook, and Kivul but it's a mission given by Master Sairon who has never steered me wrong before. I have to do this am sorry guys." Kiyoshi responded as he quickly runs to reach his destination.

Kiyoshi exited the forest and on the other was a site befitting the gods and goddesses. Kiyoshi took a step a realized he was no longer walking on dirt but on pure marble white titles that traveled from the end of the forest straight to the direction of the northern light temple. On either side of Kiyoshi ran railings made of marble, diamond, and gold which ran alongside the titles up to the temple. On the right side of Kiyoshi was a giant lake with water so clear Kiyoshi could see the bottom of the lake and the aquatic life that lived in its waters.

Large but evenly trimmed trees flow alongside the railings on Kiyoshi's left. Filled with various fruits and birds singing cheerfully in their canopies. The clear and warmth of the sun gave Kiyoshi joy as the gentle breeze uplifts his heart with the sweet smell of fresh air traveling around and about. Every hundred feet or so Kiyoshi will find miniature statues of the goddess Fertilla made of white gold and diamonds on both railings with her two hands joined together and pointing up to the sky as she is covered in a long robe-like dress.

After forty-five minutes of traversing the beautiful landscape, Kiyoshi was mere feet away from the northern temple of light. As Kiyoshi neared the temple he can fully observe the temple for all its majestic beauty. Two huge marble statues at least four hundred tall of the goddess Fertilla stand opposite sides of each other. They both have the goddess with her two hands holding her chest gently while her two angelic wings stick out with her face and both are covered with a robe-like garment.

In the middle of the statues was a long stairway made of white sand and gold which led up to the temple itself. The stairway which could comprise of at least five hundred stairs shined brightly as the sun rays struck them giving off a glamorous display of beauty and style.

Kiyoshi stood still for a moment taking all the beauty of this place as he had never seen a place so beautiful in all his years of exploring the vast lands. Which were mostly lands filled with depression, destruction, and grief as wars of the past still affected most places. So it was nice to see a place unaffected like the rest of the world. Kiyoshi took one last look around and proceed up the stairs when suddenly a pure white arrow was shot and struck the ground next to Kiyoshi's feet causing the young samurai to jump back.

But before Kiyoshi could figure out what's going on he finds himself surrounded by several monks from the temple armed with weapons all aimed at him. Shaking his head Kiyoshi realizes that he was so distracted by the beauty of the place that he didn't notice the monks closing in on him. As he tries to explain the situation another arrow was launched at him causing him to step back once more cutting his explanation short. As Kiyoshi looks around he could see three monks above at least halfway up the staircase. Two were armed with pure white spears and the one in the middle with a pure white bow and arrow. To the left and right of him were ten monks five on each side. Two on each side with again pure white spears and the remaining six with pure white long swords.

All the monks had on pure white robes and sandals as well as pure white beaded chains around their necks. The one with the bow and arrow also had a white beaded wristband on his left hand symbolizing that he was of a higher rank than the rest.

Kiyoshi tried to speak but was interrupted as the monk with the bow and arrows began speaking.

"You there, agent of chaos and evil why have you stepped your evil feet upon holy lands." Shouted the monk before continuing without waiting for Kiyoshi to reply.

"We felt your evil all the way from the depths of the forest. A person or creature as foul as you will only meet death coming here you beast. Now monks we must do our duties and protect the temple. Kill the intruder." The monk commanded.

"What no Kiddo, they want to kill us." Shouted Tyrook from within the sword furious at Kiyoshi for coming in the first place.

"We stop them without killing them of course," replied Kiyoshi as he hides his sword and puts up his arms preparing to fight the monks with his fists.

Two monks each on either side of Kiyoshi armed with spears attack first thrusting their spears at Kiyoshi's midsection. Kiyoshi grabs two spears with his hands and breaks the spears before jump-kicking the two monks and knocking them out.

As more and more monks attack Kiyoshi, he quickly and gently disarms each of them and put them out of commission with as little force as possible whilst doing arrows from the monk above. After eliminating the monks on the ground floor Kiyoshi quickly rushes toward the monks above and knocks out the two monks with spears before grabbing the bow from the last monk and breaking it with his knee. Kiyoshi then proceeds to trip the last monk on the ground to prevent him from running so he can explain to him why he is there.

Kiyoshi stretches his left hand to the monk to pull him up and ensure him that he came in peace. But before the young samurai and do this a violent gust of wind hits Kiyoshi sending him tumbling down the stairway and landing on his face.

As he brings himself back up to his feet he sees from a distance someone else coming down the stairway.
