Chapter 32 - House Party part 3: Trudy

(Trudy)

I had been waiting on my porch for ten minutes after I had gotten dressed. Finding a nice black evening dress I sat out on my porch sighing as I looked at my phone to check the time

"Good night Trudy!" I heard that bitch called out. Looking across the street I saw her standing n her lawn hands locked with Hugh's

"Love your dress. Where are you going?" she asked before Hugh sighed and gently pulled her hand

Just as I was about to respond a red expensive-looking car pulled up beside the house and parked.

I was shocked when the door opened and Jacob walked out dressed in an expensive suit

"Sorry, I'm late Trudy. I was having a little trouble with my kids" he said

"It's no problem," I said still a bit taken back

"Wow you look wow," I said my eyes fixated on the Rolex on his wrist

"Thank you my sons actually put out my clothes. They're probably worried I'd wear a t-shirt and jeans"

"Would you have?" I asked before he rubbed his head sheepishly

"We should get going...don't wanna miss the opening" he changed the topic opening the car door

I looked across the street to see Tasha gawking at us and Hugh simply smiling

Smiling? Why the hell is he smiling for.

"Hey, Jake how do I look?" I asked loud enough for him to hear

"You look absolutely stunning," he said after getting a good look at me

"Thank you," I said looking across to Hugh surprisingly gave me a thumbs up before going into the car with Tasha holding her waist

"Let's get going" I sighed as we got into his car and drove away

We rode quietly as we made our way to the place.

"So would you like to hear some music?" He suddenly asked breaking the awkward silence

"Sure"

"What genre?" He asked

"Anything that's on the radio is fine?" I said before he turned on the radio and a love song started playing

"Next," I said before he skipped the channel only to get another love song

"Next," I said

One more time and we got a heartbreak love song

"I think that's enough radio," I said before he turned it off

"Don't you have any music on your phone?"

"Mostly my kid's"

"Your kids make music. Do they want to be musicians"

"They are"

"Well, they have a songwriter as a father. I'm sure they'll make it big one day"

I said but surprisingly he laughed

"What did I say something wrong?"

"No, it's fine. We're here" he laughed struggling to find a parking spot.

"There's one" I pointed out.

A smile on his face he drove over to it but when he was going to enter a car suddenly drove in stealing our spot

"What the hell?" He said before the driver's door opened and Tasha walked out with a smug smile on her stupid face

"What is she doing here?" I asked angrily before Hugh got out of the car and walked over to us

"I told you someone was already going into the spot," he told her before he saw us

"Oh Trudy, it's you," he said surprised

"Isn't that your neighbor?" Jake asked before he took a good look at Tasha

"I've seen you before," He said before he suddenly remembered

"You were the one arguing at the supermarket with Trudy," he said before looking at Hugh

"So you must be?"

"Her ex-husband," Hugh said

"Wow so we're already divorced huh" I scoffed angrily glaring at him

"Trudy, I don't want to start anything," he said

"Whatever" I rolled my eyes

"Anyways we're sorry for taking your spot. We'll move our car" he said

"No it's fine we'll just pay for the Valet" Jake said

"Good we're gonna be late" Tasha said pulling him away

"Alright then. Thanks" Hugh said before he put his arm around her waist causing me to grip my seat in anger

"Should we go back?" he asked

"No it's fine," I said

"Alright," he said driving to the Valet

He got out of the car and opened the door for me.

"A real gentleman," I said before he smiled and gave the Valet the key and money

We then walked into the theater hall

"Hey, I'm gonna use the bathroom. Mind holding my bag"

"Sure," he said before I left

As soon as I opened the bathroom door I saw Tasha enter a stall.

I had half a mind to leave but I couldn't hold it so I just went into the next one.

After finishing I got out to see her washing her hands

I walked up beside her and started washing my hands

"So who's your date?" she asked

"A friend. What? He's your type?" I asked

"Honestly yes," she said flashing her hands

I immediately gritted my teeth and glared at her

"But unfortunately for you, I'm already taken. I was honestly just surprised a guy like that would go for you" She said

"Well I'm full of surprise" I continued to glare at her

"I find that hard to believe. Anyway don't think Hugh would get jealous just because you find a decent guy off the street" she said walking out God I hated her

I left her shortly after but you couldn't imagine my surprise when I saw Hugh speaking with Jake

"Isn't this surprising?" Tasha said with a smirk which I rolled my eyes at

We walked over and Tasha immediately walked over to Hugh and wrapped her arms around him and kissed him passionately

"So what were you guys talking about?" I gritted my teeth and asked

"Hugh here was just telling about his subscription to something called Bird weekly"

"Hugh I told you that's not something to show off about," Tasha said

"I wasn't showing off"

"I suppose he's just really excited about it. It's weird but charming...just like him" she said before kissing him again

At this point, I felt like digging out my eyes or better yet her tongue. While looking at them I got an idea so I gripped Jake's arm kissing his cheek

He was surprised for a minute but quickly went back to his calm

"Oh yeah, what kind of event is this?" Hugh asked

"Another board-way musical by Alexander Coleman," Jake said

"He's not bad," Tasha said

"Excuse me, he is better than not bad. He is one of the best Broadway musical writers of the decade" Jake said

"That's going a bit far," Tasha said

"I will let you know that many have praised this as the best musical in recent years. Especially among the fans, I'm actually surprised he agreed to a surprise show in such a small town"

"But critic reviews seem to say otherwise; they say he's average at best"

"Critic reviews don't matter. If fans like it then it's good"

"Why wouldn't the opinions of professionals who are trained to tell the difference between good or bad matter?"

"Professionals could be bought off and many have agendas that create biases" he responded

"That sounds like paranoia," she said before Tasha could continue Hugh wrapped his arms around her

"I think we should save our opinion until after the show. We can continue this then" Hugh said

"Since we're here together why don't we sit together?" Tasha said

Jake shoot an inquisitive glance at me

I simply sighed before reluctantly nodding with a smile. I didn't want to seem petty because Jake seemed to really like discussing the musical. Something I had little to no interest in so I was unable to speak on it

"Alright, we can seat in my box" Jake smiled

"Okay," they said before they walked in

I let go of Jake as soon as they did.

I noticed him sigh and I slight smile crossed my lips.

We walked in soon after. We need our way up the steps to a small platform

There are two rows each having three seats.

Tasha and I took two seats upfront each sitting at opposite ends.

One seat remained in the middle and mentally prayed Jake took it but before he could Hugh sat between us

I could only sigh as the show started.

Not even five minutes later they started holding unto each other's hands. I glared at their interconnected hands clenching my teeth in anger and gripping tightly on the arms of my chair.

My rage reached its limits during a kissing scene of the play because as soon as it turned started they started. With no regard for me being there, they kissed each other. I tried to keep my cool but more and more I found myself digging into the arms of my arm and it seemed like the sound of their kiss was echoing in my ear. It was maddening

Not being able to take it anymore I slammed my arms on the chair screaming, "Enough!!"

This garnered the attention of almost everyone in the building. Why did I have to yell during the few silent parts of this stupid musical

"Excuse me, I have to go use the bathroom," I said leaving

I quickly made my way to the bathroom and splashed myself with water hoping the rage would wash away with the water. It didn't, I was still angry and I wanted something to take my anger out on. Then it happened my thoughts immediately ran to Hugh's car and I just so happened to have my keys with me so walking out of the bathroom I went to the parking lot. Looking around to see if anyone was there I bent down fumbling with the key in my hands trying to find the sharpest one.

Just as I was about to run it along with his car I heard an annoyingly familiar voice say

"What the hell are you doing?!" he asked

"Jacob! Shouldn't you be watching the show?"

"I was worried about you so I came to check on you but what the hell is this?"

"What does it look like?" I glared at him

"It looks like you were going to key their car," he said

"And? What does it have to do with you" I said

"Trudy, you can't be seriously thinking of vandalizing their car. You know that's a crime right?"

"And so what? You gonna report me to the cops"

"Trudy you're acting like a high schooler," he said

"What are you my fucking conscience?" I cursed

Before he could retort his phone started ringing

"Hello," he said

"They're doing what?" He said sighing

"I understand. I'll be there soon" he sighed hanging up his phone

"What is it?" I asked

"My sons threw a party in the neighbor's apartment. Some girl just called me" he said before making his way over to the Valet

"How did your kids get into the neighbor's apartment?"

"Our neighbors are teenagers. Shouldn't be that hard for Aiden to bribe or coerce them for the night"

"If they're teenagers, isn't it likely they are the ones throwing the party. And what irresponsible parents allow their kids to live on their own"

"They are surprisingly well behaved. I have a hard time believing they would throw a wild party out of nowhere" he said before the car pulled up.

We drove all the way back to his apartment at the Midnight Hotel.

I was already acquainted with the hotel as we had once visited this place for a staycation in town. James seemed to really like it here.

Jacob and I made our way to the elevator and went straight to the top floor. There were only two golden doors on this floor

"Here it is," he said

Before the door opened.

Jacob was face to face with a young man in blue but for no longer than a minute because the boy slammed the door in fright

"Roman!!" He yelled before the door opened again

"Jake," he said fearfully before looking at me

It's funny how our kids call us by our first names but it sounds so different.

One with love and the other with contempt

"Roman are you listening to me?!" Jake angrily asked snapping both of us out of our thoughts

"Um-"

"Room now! Party's over. I'll deal with you all when I round up everyone else" he said

"Okay," the boy said before going into his room.

After he left we went into the room where we were greeted by the site of multiple high school students grinding on each other half-naked while drinking and doing multiple forms of illegal substances

The party was completely out of control

"I'm gonna find my children and put a stop to this," he said disappearing into the crowd

Not long after I spotted a familiar face talking to a cute girl and I couldn't help but smile

"At least this hasn't affected him too much," I said

"What the hell are you doing here!!!"
