(Sophie)
"Damn morning already," I said stretching as I got out of the bed
"Yeah, and you have to head to your mom's," Libby said walking in. She must have gotten a shower because there were still water droplets on her Superman towels covered body
"Do I have to?" I groaned flopping down back on the bed
"Come on girl, the sooner you get this done the better" Libby said
"Yeah I know," I said crawling off her bed
"Come on go get a shower and let's get going," Libby said pushing me towards the shower
After a shower, I got dressed in short shorts, and lime green t-shirt, and a track shoes
"To the car," I said with fake enthusiasm
We got to her car and she drove to Carlos who was standing outside waiting on her
"Hello my Shinning one," He said kissing her for two minutes before they broke apart
"Sophie? Glad to see you guys are talking again" he said surprised
"Is she...?" He asked
"Oh God no, I'm just dropping her off at her house and back to mine"
"Why?"
"It's personal," I quickly said before he sighed and we drove off.
We had almost made it to my house when Libby noticed she was almost out of gas.
She wanted to quickly stop at a gas station and Carlos wanted to use the bathroom
"I'm going to walk the rest of the way. You can pick me up when you're done"
"You sure you can do this by yourself?" Libby asked
"Yeah, I'll be fine," I said getting out of the car
"Okay good luck girl," She said driving away
After taking a deep breath I made my way to my house and unfortunately, I saw another face I didn't wanna see
"What are you doing here Nick?" I asked
"I wanted to talk. I was gonna call but we both know how that would have turned out" His hair was a mess, his breath reeked of alcohol and he had bags under his eyes. It seemed like he hadn't slept at all last night and the fact that he was still in his costume made it clear that he hadn't even gone home
"Like this," I said choosing to ignore him.
"She kissed me, Sophie. I didn't kiss back" he said
"Should that make it better?" I said as I walked past him. I didn't get far because he grabbed into my right arm as I passed
"Let me go," I said
"Please listen"
"Let me go," I said trying to break free from his grip but it only got tighter
"Nick you're hurting me"
"Please," he said tears in his eyes
"I'm serious Nick let me go before you regret it," I said glaring at him
"Oh Sophia darling, you finally came," Mom said rushing out of the house and making Nick let go of my hand
"Nicholas, what a pleasant surprise?" Mother said flashing a fake smile
"Mrs. Vortex"
"Do you need Sophia for something? I'm sorry, but Sophia already promised to help me with something important today. Isn't that right Sophia? I simply rolled my eyes at that
"I was actually leaving anyway," he said stumbling to his car
"It's such a shame. I recognized that lost look in his eyes I'm guessing you broke up with him. He must be taking it quite hard," Mother said
"If you're expecting a thank you. Don't worry it's not coming" I said walking in
"I'm just happy to have you back," She said moving to hug me but I pushed her off
"Also not happening," I said walking inside heading straight for my former room, and started packing a suitcase as she sat comfortably on the couch just watching me
"Oh, Sophia-darling leave that horrid blouse here. Take the golden and white one it suits you much better"
"Aren't you being awfully merry about this?" I said irritated by her jovial tone
"I've decided to treat it like you're going on vacation. You're definitely coming back"
"And what makes you so sure?" I glared
"Because you don't have anywhere to go. You obviously can't keep staying at Libby's and it's not like you have anywhere else to stay"
"Keep telling yourself that," I said closing my suitcases and going out just in time to see Libby waiting on me
"You ready"
"Actually can you just drop off my things? I'm just gonna head over to Taylor's"
(Trudy)
Rebecca had just left when Carl came out from the backroom
"Is she gone?" Carl asked
"Yes, you should hurry up and get going too," I said
"About what happened?" He said
"Don't. Don't say anything. It was a mistake and we should never talk about it. In fact, it never happened"
"But?"
"I mean it, Carl. It never happened" I said sternly
"Okay. I'll...I will get going" Carl said
After he left I flopped into a chair with my head in my palms as flashes of last night crossed my mind. Not that I needed them I could still feel Carl's touch on me. It was....wrong but there stood a horrible and terrifying truth that it felt good. A dark sickening feeling of enjoyment that disgusted me. Damn, what was I thinking? Eventually, I decided that staying at the scene of the crime was a bad idea. I wrote a note instructing Rebecca to put everything in the fridge before closing the shop and sticking the note on the glass.
I drove to the store and bought the morning after pill. Can't be too careful. I then drove home and walked on to see Hugh watching tv
"What? Your girlfriend not home today" I asked mockingly
"Where were you?" He asked
"I was out. I don't see how that's any of your business"
"James asked where you were and I told him you were working late"
"And I was"
"We both know that's a lie"
"How are you so sure?"
"Don't do this Trudy. If you're angry about what I did. Having another affair won't change anything"
"I'm not doing anything and if I were, you don't seem to have a problem when you do it. Why would it be a problem if I do?"
"I remember what's at risk. Do you?"
"You don't need to worry about me," I said walking away. I went to my room closing the door behind me.
Hugh does have a point, though I'd never admit it to his stupid face. God, what the hell did I do. I felt guilty and disgusted by the fact I had enjoyed that forbidden fruit
Just then my phone went off and I answered
"Carlton"
"I know what you're gonna say but don't. I know what we did was wrong but you can't tell me you didn't feel well last night"
I couldn't answer
"I'll take it as a yes. So I have a proposal. Come out of town with me".
Was he serious? What was this child thinking? No, this might be a good idea. It would be easier to talk to him out of town where no one we know might overhear us. I can stop him from thinking anything too outlandish of our relationship
