Chapter 5 - Chapter Four

Terry's Pov

I rushed to Dad's room when I heard mom's scream and upon getting there, I found Debby standing close to the door, starting at dad with mouth agape and mom sitting on Dad's bed with a tear stained face. I made to ask Debby what was wrong but then I looked at dad and noticed he wasn't breathing, it was then everything clicked. I wanted to just sit down and cry like mom or just stare into space like Debby but then remembering that I was the only man, I had to act like one. I made my way out to call the ambulance. Upon getting out, I began shedding tears as I remembered the little time I got to spend with Dad. I quickly stopped myself as I picked up my phone and called the ambulance to come pick up Dad's body to be taken to the morgue.

Few minutes later, the ambulance arrived and carried Dad's body as we watched with Mom crying,  I put my shoulder over her and she fell into my arms. looking over at Debby, I noticed she was still starting into space and I thought to myself this was indeed going to be a long holiday for us all.

Debby's Pov

We went into the house and it felt like I was in a world of my own. As we walked into the sitting room, we saw the maids clustered together with some whispering while others were crying. I guess the were aware of what happened already. I tried to understand what was happening but it felt like the more closer I got to understanding it, the more complex it got; I tried to understand how the same dad I saw yesterday and was just about to start getting used to was dead, now I understood how death felt like. I sat down and began to imagine how I would feel like to be fatherless from now on, though I had never really thought of a father as being so important. While all these thoughts were running through my mind, another thought came in; I never got to know what killed dad, we didn't even bother to do anything about finding out what killed him or do we all assume that he was due for it? but dad wasn't so old! A man in his late fifties was still have and hearty and could still work very well. I thought of drawing my brothers attention to this, but upon seeing everyone's mood, I decided to wait until a more appropriate time. I also considered asking my mom if she knew what happened but then thought better as she was weeping seriously; she must have loved him so deeply, I thought.

I went into my room and picked up my phone to call Erica, at least to keep her updated on what was happening. I called her twice with it ringing and she not picking, I guess she was ignoring my calls, thinking I was calling her for the same reason. I decided to try again and this time she picked up, but then her voice sounded like she had been running or doing something really strenuous which seemed really weird...
