The Born Again Fate of DxD - Chapter 1: Prologue.

Nothingness. That's all Daniel Cole could see. A blank, empty and dark void.

"...?" Daniel called out into the void but he wasn't able to hear my voice.

The 28 year old who stood over 6ft 2ins tall, pulled up his hands onto his face, however he wasn't able to see anything.

Daniel knew that they were physically in front of him. He could even feel them touch against his face, but as of right now his sense of sight was gone.

'What was I doing before this happened?' Daniel thought to himself.

And then he remembered. He was in the Post Office in Golders Green, London where he was living. Daniel could recall that he was there to exchange his money for Euros when it was robbed.

Next thing he knew was... 'I'm dead.' He thought to himself in dread.

"That is correct." A voice called out to Daniel. From the void I could now see a Red Orb of light.

"You died on the 12th of May, 2019. You were shoot protecting the woman behind the exchange counter." The light brightened as the voice spoke to Daniel.

"Was anybody else hurt?" Daniel asked before he exclaimed out in shock. "Wait, I can hear my voice now!"

"Yes, my presence has brought time here to your stay in Limbo." The voice chuckled at Daniel's reaction before he continued. "During the robbery you were the only casualty at occurred."

"You died instantly and the three who were attempting to rob the Post Office ran afterwards." The voice informed Daniel. "Only to be arrested 1 week later."

"Your family mourned your loss. You were buried beside your father back home." The voice sounded downhearted as Daniel felt some guilt for making his family suffer once more.

"So this is it then?" Daniel asked with a sombre tone.

"If you wish it to be... Then yes." The voice replied. "However I can give you an offer, a chance to leave this place."

"What do you mean?" Daniel asked with a hint of hope on his voice.

"I'm offering you a chance to continue living and become reborn into a different world, my world. And if you accept I shall grant you a gift of power as well." The voice stated out to Daniel.

"So you're from a different world." Daniel managed to get out before laughing loudly. "So I'm getting the Isekai treatment then. Hahahaha."

"Alright fuck it, why the hell not!" Daniel replied back with a shit eating grin plastered on his face. "I'm sure it'll be a lot better than trapped for all eternity here."

"Excellent.. I hope your arrival into my world will grant me great entertainment." The voice cried out in a joyous roar.

"My name is Great Red!" As the voice cried out as the Red Orb transformed into a massive western Dragon."

"Great Red!" Daniel shouted out. 'Huh, weird name for a Dragon.'

"In your old world, my home to home to High School DxD." Great Red stated out as he flexed his massive wings out.

"Oh shit, I'm going to High School DxD." Daniel groaned out as he rubbed my face.

"So you know of my world then?" Great Red asked.

"Only up until the end of the first season." Daniel replied as he weakly chuckled as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah... The show was a bit too graphic for my taste."

"Yes." Great Red grunted in agreement. "However be that as it may, I look forward to seeing the changes you bring to my world." As Great Red flexed once more, a shining light took over my vision

When Daniel first woke up again, he found himself in his old Uni apartment from when he was studying at Queens University in Belfast.

At first he was confused but when he remembered what happened in the void, without warning Daniel clutched onto his head as it felt like it was about to explode. His mind was flooded with a vast amount of new memories.

It seems that Daniel wasn't just randomly dropped into this new world. And it became clear to Daniel that he or even this body, was already a part of this world. His new memorises though, they were vastly different to his old life's.

Because unlike his original life, Daniel's new life was now one with no parents or a home to call my own. In this world his upbringing was in an Orphanage. His parents were simply unknown as he was left abandoned outside of St Columba's Church in Derry, Northern Ireland.

While Daniel was upset at first at the memory of being abandoned at birth, however he knew that being upset would not be worth it in the long run. He knew this because this type of abandonment made it near impossible for him to track his real parent down to find any answers. The only positive he had from his new memories was the fact he was still from his old hometown.

Looking at his bedside drawer, Daniel was able to locate his phone, wallet and passport. All in the same place he normally would've put them. However opening up his passport, he had several shocks at once.

The first that caught his eye was the photo of himself. Rushing out to the bathroom, it only confirmed that his eyes weren't lying to him. His hair and eyes were now different colours. His hair was now a Silver/Grey mix, while his eyes were a bright Blue.

Bringing his hands up to touch his hair, he noticed on his right forearm there was what looked like a tattoo that he didn't have before. Or at least he thought it was a tattoo. At first Daniel didn't know what it was but soon realised it was incredibly similar to Shirou Emiya's command seal from the Fate series. Only that it was much larger and in the wrong place.

Looking up at the mirror once more Daniel thought to himself that he looked almost like Archer from his death at the end of the Unlimited Blade Works Route, the only thing missing from that image was the lack of any tanned skin.

Deciding to see if this was the gift that Great Red gave to him, as Daniel closed his eyes and lifted his right hand up he softly called out. "Trace on."

The weapon that Daniel attempted to visualise was the red spear of Cú Chulainn, Gáe Bolg. However once he opened his eyes there was no red spear in his hand. Instead it was a spear head itself was made of bone and not red steel.

Using Structural Analysis Daniel was able to tell that this was in fact Gáe Bolg, albeit this world's version of the weapon. 'Awesome... But I guess this world's weapons will appear differently than in the Fate anime.' Daniel thought to himself.

As he tightly gripped the Spear, the memories it held from it's time with Scáthach and later Cú Chulainn flooded his mind. It also seemed like the weapon's will itself was telling Daniel how it wanted to be wielded as he instantly knew how to fight with it. "Wow." Daniel gasped out of he allowed the spear to disperse.

'I wonder if I can do this with swords from other shows?.. Wait, do these shows even exist in this world?.. Questions for later.' Daniel decided to himself that those thoughts would be a headache for another time.

Looking down again to his passport, another shock was his year of birth. "That can't be right." Daniel called out in disbelief. 'I was born in 1990, not 1983!'

Rushing into his bedroom, Daniel opened his phone and checked the present date. It was 2003. 'So not only have I been brought into a new world, I'm also in the past?' Daniel's mind was in a state of confusion as he asked himself.

'The only way I think i'll be able to get any answers will be getting to Kuoh as soon as possible.' Daniel thought to himself in determination.

(Monday 2nd April 2012 - Morning- 9 years later)

For the last six years Daniel had been an English Teacher at Kuoh Academy. This year he was also going to serve as the Homeroom Teacher for Class 2-B. 'It's been nine years since I arrived in this world. If I remember correctly the show should be starting this year.' Daniel thought to himself as he parked his Black 1967 Chevy Impala SS in his normal spot just in front of the school's clubhouse.

He was currently wearing a white long sleeved shirt with a red tie underneath a brown blazer jacket, along with a simple pair of jeans and a pair of brown leather slip on shoes. All made together with the dark five o'clock shadow beard.

'All I can bloody remember is that Issei gets attacked and becomes a devil, Asia arrives, they fight some Fallen Angels and then the rating game with Riser.' Daniel sighed in annoyance as he got out of his car. 'Why do I get the feeling that this year's gonna be a headache.'

After he locked his car he looked up he found Sona Shitori looking down from the student council's room. Daniel gave the girl a wave as he made his way over to his classroom. Sona meanwhile was not alone, just out of sight from the window was Rias Gremory her best friend and rival. "Still watching Cole-Sensei?"

"Yes." Sona's reply was short was her eyes remained on the English teacher. "I can sense a large source of Magic from him, but I have yet to see him wield any. I'm curious as to what his power really is."

"Well it's obvious after three years here that he's not here to attack us. Maybe he isn't part any Magician Faction? But I am curious as to why Father gave him a teaching position here." Rias stated her thoughts out loud.

"I know... But I can't help but get a gut feeling he's not to be trusted." Sona narrowed her eyes as she replied. "With the power I feel from him, he has to know who we are. No one is that oblivious." Rias nodded in agreement before the two decided they would be best heading off to class.

Meanwhile as Daniel arrived in Class 2-B's room he ran into the familiar sight of the Perverted Trio. He could hear the three of the little perverts giggling together as they huddled around each other. It looked like they were each holding onto something.

In Daniel's mind, this could only mean one thing. "What do you three have this time?"

The three snapped to attention as they swiftly turned to face their homeroom teacher. "Nothing!" The trio exclaimed out at the same time with the same tone of fear.

Daniel glared down at them for a brief moment before putting an open hand out to them. "Hand it over. Now"

"I don't know what you're talking about Cole-Sensei." The bald one, Matsuda attempted to portray their innocence.

"Yeah, we've done nothing wrong!" The one with the glasses, Motohama exclaimed out as he shook his fist in anger.

"You'll never take away our Oppai!" Issei, the somewhat normal looking one shouted out at Daniel.

His response though only caused Daniel's eye to twitch, violently. "You have to the count of five to give me the contraband or i'll be dragging your asses straight to the principal's office." Daniel's smile was one that promised pain if they didn't comply.

"1... 2... 3... 4... 5..." However the trio still refused to budge on their wrongdoing.

"Well I suppose that I can't fault you all for sticking with the loyalty of your of sticking together with your friends. It's a shame though that you'll be expelled for this. But owning and bring contraband into school seems to be more important to you three." Daniel sighed out as the Trio realised what he had just said.

"EXPELLED!" The Trio shouted out in unison. After a brief scuffle amongst themselves, they handed over three magazines of Playboy.

'Jesus, somehow they're even worse than I imagined.' Daniel thought to himself as he rolled his eyes.

"This will be your only warning I'll be giving you three this year. So if I so much as catch any one of you doing anything like this again or even HEAR of you three peaking on the Girls like you had done last year." Daniel's eyes darkened as he lowered his head down to their eye line.

"I will be personally be taking care of you. And just so you know, they'll never find your bodies." Daniel softly whispered to them so the other students could not hear them.

Daniel watched on as the each member of the Trio began to pale in terror. "Savvy?" Daniel asked with a grin that promised nothing but pain.

The Trio vigorously nodded in fear as Daniel turned and dumped the three books into his desk and locked it. "Oh, and don't expect these back. They'll be burnt by the end of the day."

The Trio were about to argue back but a quick glare shut them up. "Now that everything's settled, take your seats. Homeroom's about to begin."

(Friday 6th April - Afternoon)

As it was the last day of the week for School, Friday was easily Daniel's favourite day. He only had 1 after his normal morning Homeroom class. An easy final period class with the third years.

But something was nagging him in the back of his mind since Homeroom. Issei had been acting weird. Weirder than normal surprisingly. He was far too excitable than he normally would be.

As he was currently at his desk in the Teacher's room, he brought his head up when he heard the door open. Only to find a smug looking Issei stroll up to him. "What got you in a good mood?" Daniel asked Issei.

"I've got a date!" Issei replied back with a smug look plastered over his face. "Take that sensei. I got a girlfriend before you did!"

"You do know your hands don't count right?" Daniel replied with a smirk. 'Dammit, the first week's not even over and it's already starting. I have enough paperwork to deal with. I don't need additional stress right now!'

"Why does everyone keep saying that?" Issei complained out loud before pulling out his phone and showing a photo to Daniel.

On Issei's phone was a photo of a slender black haired girl with a large bust. She was wearing a different school uniform, which consisted of a dark red jacket. on the jacket the letter 'P' was heavily embroidered in gold, along with a red bow around a white shirt. "See! She's real!"

"It's amazing what you can do with Photoshop these days." Daniel smugly stated as he grinned at Issei.

"Yeah, I mean hey!" Issei complained as he realised what his Homeroom teacher was saying. "She's real dammit."

"And wrestling's real to some people as well. Doesn't mean that it is." Daniel replied with a smirk. However when he noticed the depressed look on Issei's face, he instantly felt like he just kicked a puppy. 'Maybe my joking came across a little harsher than intended.'

"Listen kid." Daniel stated out getting Issei attention. "The only reason I doubt you is because of the way you act around women."

Issei looked at his Sensei in confusion. 'God, this kid's an idiot.' Daniel slapped his face before he continued. "What I mean to say kid is, women don't tend to go out with perverts like yourself."

It seemed that Issei understood by what he meant as he silently nodded. "All's I'm saying is, if she's real. Treat her like a person and not a pair of tits. Treat her to a clean and fun time but don't expect anything back in return. At most you might get is a kiss, nothing else after first base. If you can manage to do that, then you might get a second date. Okay?"

"I got it." Issei responded with a thumbs up as he walked ahead of Daniel.

"Oh and one more thing Issei." Daniel called out to his student.

Issei stopped dead in his tracks and turned around to face Daniel. "What is it Cole-Sensei?"

"What happened with the Kendo Club?" Daniel asked with a deceiving smile. He never got a reply though as Issei booked it out of there. 'Hopefully you'll be able to enjoy your last day as a human kid.'

(Sunday 8th April - Evening)

The first week back in school is always the toughest for both the Students and the Teachers. It was now Sunday evening and Daniel was resting in front of his TV, wearing some pyjama bottoms and a short sleeved shirt. On the screen was some old re-runs of Drag So-Ball Z, this worlds version of Dragon Ball Z.

While most of the shows he watched growing up still exists, a lot of the anime that were a part of old teenage and young adult years no longer existed. Shows like Naruto, FullMetal Alchemist, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Fate/Stay Night and Fairy Tail no longer existed. While shows like Dragon Ball and One Piece still existed but they seemed to him like heavily abridged versions.

The only show that stayed the exact same was oddly Death Note. 'God I miss TeamFourStar.' Daniel groaned internally as he turned off his TV. The reason he was even watching old Anime was because of the papers sitting on his kitchen's counter/table.

Those papers were for Naturalisation for Japanese Citizenship. This was something he had been putting off for over a year. The reason it was difficult for him was the last rule required for him to send these papers. And that was renouncing his Irish Citizenship.

Having spent two lives growing up with that amount of national pride, it was made tougher as he knew that in giving up his Irish identity then he would be doing the same for his Children and Grandchildren as well.

As these thoughts pondered over his head, other thoughts also joined in. Mainly of his old life and his mother. While not his mother in this world he still missed her. He even missed the argument they would more than often have with one another. 'Did I make the right choice in coming here?' Daniel asked himself as a sour look took crept onto his face.

These thoughts were cut short when he heard a knock on his front door. When he opened the door he found a familiar face giving him her usual megawatt smile. "Good Evening Dan-tan! Magical Girl Levia-tan is here to save the day!"

(Flash back - 3rd April 2006)

It was a young and clean shaven Daniel's first day of teaching at Kouh Academy and since it was still registered as an all-girls school he was only given the change to teach the third year students.

When he arrived into the class he could hear the girl gossip behind his back as he wrote his name on the chalkboard. "It's nice to meet you all. My name's Daniel Cole and for your final year here in Kuoh I'll be your English Teacher."

Once he finished some of the girls squealed in excitement as he tried his best to settle them down. 'Never had this happen to me before.'

"Alright, alright calm down. So before we get started does anyone have any questions?" Daniel asked out as nearly every girl threw a hand up into the air.

"How old are you!?"

"Are you single!?"

"Do you believe in love at first sight!?"

"Please go out with me!"

"Do you believe in Magical girls!?"

With each question asked, the girls only had gotten louder and louder. However the last question caught him off guard slightly. Taking a moment to compose himself Daniel answered as best as he could. "22, yes, no, no and I believe in magic not Magical girls."

The last answer caught nearly all of the girls off guard as I smirked at then. "What you've never seen Penn and Teller before?" Daniel asked as his smirked, only for his stupid joke to epically failed. Penn and Teller weren't big in Japan it seems.

However before he could continue with his class, Daniel noticed one of the student stand up from her desk. "Then it's up to me Sera Shitori, to make you believe in Magical Girls!"

(Flash back end)

Daniel couldn't help but laugh lightly as his former student jumped up and tightly hugged him. As usual when she often visited him, she in her in Magical Girl attire. At times Daniel wondered if she rushed to get here straight from the set in the Underworld. "It's good to see you too Sera."

As Sera let go of her hug, Daniel moved slightly to the side. "Come on in."

"Hey! You're supposed to offer the Girl who arrives at your door a cup of Coffee when bringing her into your home, y'know!" Sera complained to him as she placed her hands on her hips. For Daniel this wasn't much of a intimating pose, as she didn't even stand as high as his shoulders.

"Nope." Daniel replied with a pop. He smirked at Sera's pouting face as she huffed her way past and moved in towards his kitchen.

"Stop being a meanie." Sera groaned as she sat by his countertop.

"Pardon the pun here but, not a hope in hell am I giving you caffeine." Daniel responded as he poked her cheek, Sera's pout turned into a light glare. "Anyway, how have you been? I see that you've finally gotten yourself some free time, y'know from your normal busy filming schedule and all. It's been a while since you last visited. I missed them."

"I know. It's been super busy the last few weeks. But, last week we did manage to finish shooting the first ever Miracle Levia-tan movie." Sera stated out with usual excited tone. "And we've just confirmed we'll be entering production into it's sequel soon!"

"Awesome! Congrats are in order then." Daniel smiled as he moved over towards an upper cupboard. Pulling out a bottle of Saint Brendan's Irish Cream Liqueur along with two short glasses.

As he turned around, he noticed that Sera had seen the Naturalisation papers in her hands and was currently reading them. "You're applying for Japanese Citizenship?"

Daniel's face lightly soured as he look at the papers in Sera's hands. "To be decided. However if I don't I might be have to leave Kuoh to get a teaching job elsewhere." Daniel answered as he placed the bottle of Irish cream on the counter top.

"What!" Sera shouted out as she slammed his hands onto the desk. "Is the school forcing you to do this!?"

"Yeah, according to the school's board it's all because of the School's hiring policy as they only hire foreign teachers for a max of six years. The school's willing to sign my Work Visa for an additional year but it's highly unlikely they'll do the same next year." Daniel explained as he poured into both glasses.

"My three options at by-passing this are either, applying for a Permanent Residency, applying for Japanese Citizenship or looking for a new School to teach in. Out of those three, only two are practical and I'm not exactly happy about either option." Daniel stated as he push a glass over to Sera.

"What's wrong with them?" Sera asked in confusion as she tilted her head to the side.

"Well for Permanent Residency I can't apply as I've not lived in Japan for 10 years, nor do I have enough points needed to bypass that rule and apply early." Daniel answered with a sad smile as he took a sip of the Irish Cream.

"And as for the Citizenship issue, well I'd have to give up my own nationality. And that's not an easy thing to do." Daniel groaned on as he continued.

"And the third option is the worst one of the three as I've already settled in Kuoh. Moving away after nearly 7 years is gonna be tough. And i'd rather stay as I'e nothing back home to go to." Daniel finished off as he finished his glass.

"Well then, allow the super awesome and sexy Levia-tan to cheer you up!" Sera stated out in her usual cheerful voice.

"Wait what!?" Daniel exclaimed out in a mixture of shock and panic as light overtook Sera's form.

When the light faded down Sera's hair was no longer in their standard pigtails but flowed naturally instead as she stood in her own pyjamas. Daniel noticed in her hand was a DVD. "Wanna watch the latest season of Magical Girl Levia-tan?"

Daniel chuckled as he took a swig from the bottle of Cream Liqueur before grabbing a bag of toffee popcorn. "Alright, let's get this show on the road."

With the show starting they both sat down and leaned back on Daniel's sofa. Sera leaned back onto Daniel's shoulder while he placed the bag of popcorn in front of them. As Daniel pressed the play button on the remote Sera turned her head slightly and asked him. "Wanna join my Peerage?"

Daniel response was wrapping his arm over her shoulder as he whispered. "It's still no."

"Meanie." Sera held him closer as she softly chuckled, she already knew what his answer would be. An hour later they had both fallen asleep with the sounds of Magical Girl Levia-tan playing in the background as they held onto one another.

(Monday 9th April - Morning)

"Hey Sensei." Daniel looked up to find Issei asking him a question. He noticed that the kid had a nervous look on his face. "Would I be able to ask you something in private?" Issei asked in front of the class during Homeroom.

Both the Girls and the Boys were looking at Issei as if he had grown a second head, while also looking at Daniel with a mixture shock and disgust.

"Is the perv actually gay?"

"Is he going to confess?"

"Does this mean Sensei's gay as well?"

"OMG! It's a a forbidden BL romance!"

"Alright, cut the chatter!" Daniel shouted out to the class, silencing them instantly. Looking over at Issei he nodded his head towards the door. "Follow me."

Leading Issei to the hall, Daniel could only feel the demonic energy flow from his body as he was closer to the boy. I was weak, but the was something there, almost as if it was dormant. "Whats the issue kid?"

"Do you remember the photo I showed up last week?" Issei asked. Daniel could easily tell by the tone of his voice he was upset and confused.

"Yeah you said the girl in the photo was your girlfriend." Daniel replied.

"So you do remember her!" Issei exclaimed as he pointed a finger at Daniel. "Why has no one else believed me then?"

'Right so Issei's been turned and'll be attacked tonight.' Daniel thought to himself.

"Issei, did something happen?" Daniel asked with concern. He already knew but in case the cannon's story had changed with his presence, he wanted to make sure.

"Well, it's hard to describe." Issei stated as he began explaining. "I remember our date, everything was going great. I wasn't even doing anything perverted at all, just like you advised. But then... When we made our way to the park everything went wrong."

"One moment I thought she was about to kiss me... And the next thing I remember is I was stabbed in the chest." Issei grabbed a hold of his chest. The same spot where he had been stabbed.

"However I woke up this morning like it was all just a dream. My Parents, my Friends. None of them could remember Yuuma, even the photos in my phone were deleted. The only one who even remembers her is you." Issei looked up with pleading eyes at Daniel. "Please tell me I'm not going crazy! I don't know why. But since I seen you this morning, my guts been telling me to trust you."

'Why's he getting a gut feeling to trust me?' Daniel thought to himself and what his next best action would need to be.

"Kid, I need you to listen to me. For the time being don't dwell on what happened." Daniel placed a reassuring hand on Issei's shoulder. "All's going to be revealed to you soon enough."

"What do you mean Sensei?" Issei asked in confusion.

"Don't worry about it and leave it to me." Daniel reassured Issei as best he could as he turned to leave. "Now head back to class. I'll see you for your English classes after lunch."

After leaving a confused Issei alone in the halls, Daniel quickly made his way over towards Class 3-A's Homeroom. After knocking on the door he heard an elderly voice call out. "Come in."

Upon opening the door, Daniel was greeted by the sight of the oldest Teacher in Kuoh Academy, Himari Ishimoto. "Sorry to disturb your Homeroom class Ishimoto-san, but would I be able to borrow Gremory-san and Shitori-san for a brief moment?"

"Certainly. Can I ask why though?" Himari asked with a hint of suspicion.

"It over the advisory position for Gremory-san's Occult Research Club. Just need them both to sign a few papers." Daniel lied through his teeth as he hoped the elder Teacher would buy it.

"Alright then." Himari nodded in response as the two girls in question left the classroom.

'Okay, lets get everything in place then.' Daniel thought to himself as he looked at the confused faces of both Sona and Rias.

"I'll keep this brief. I want both the Occult Research Club and the Student Council to meet me in the Student Council's room after classes ends today." Daniel informed both Girls as they looked back with widened eyes.

"What's the meaning of this Sensei?" Rias asked.

Daniel raised an eyebrow at Rias, taking he deep breath her replied back. "I can speak 6 languages Gremory-san, please don't mistake me for an idiot. I've known that both you and Shitori-san here are pure blooded Devils for quite some time."

This time Sona and Rias looked as if they were ready to fight back, only for Daniel to raise both hands. "I only have a simple question to ask both for your peerages, that's all."

Sona seemed to be the first to recover as she asked. "Why now?"

"I wasn't planning on interfering with your business this but I'll just say some recent events have forced my hand into action. And I'm not trilled out it either." Daniel sighed in response.

"I'll be waiting at the end of classes." And with the last word, Daniel turned and left the two stunned Devils standing outside their Homeroom.
