Chapter 3 - (cont) Impotent fiend

After Moonwinder left, Thain put down the bedlamp in front of the sofas, then picked up a book on the table.

Outside, the sun slowly set, dusk was growing more profound, and darkness started creeping over. Overhead, the mansion owners' movement also subsided.

In the living room, the players stopped talking and gathered around the sofas, anxiously looking around the shadow.

Their eyes kept sweeping over the places where their three teammates laid, then quickly moved away.

Thain watching their nervousness, felt glad of his decision.

If he didn't give up early, he would be like them, controlled by fear, then die in despair.

Suddenly, he saw Moonwinder trembled a bit.

Fiend came!

Culenmais focused his muscles, stomped hard on the floor, grabbed Moonwinder, and shot to the front yard.

The remaining four players could only react after Culenmais left, they hurried outside, but it was too late then.

The fiend came out from the shadow on the road toward the front yard.

It was Thain's first time seeing this world fiend: compared to the previous world's skeleton, this fiend looks even more fiendish.

It looked like mud cover body, with those crimson eyes emanating bloody light, was enough to bring forth a man's worst nightmare.

His heart jolted but then instantly recovered.

Even a fiend won't be able to do anything to a dead man.

Thus, for Thain, who was already prepared to lie down embracing death, there was nothing to fear.

However, the others did not have Thain's good mindset, and they looked at the fiend with frightened eyes.

The fiend blocked the way to the front yard, but the living room had another door to the back yard.

Covering their mouths, they hurried toward the other door.

The dimmed lights cast their shadows on the ground.

The shadows originated from light illuminating their bodies. Usually, they should be synchronized with their actions, but these four shadows mutated.

Their owners were moving, but the shadows stood still.

They ultimately forfeited the nature laws!

The four players noticed their own shadows' revolution and felt coldness shot up from their back.

One of them got smart jumped into another man's shadow. Since the light was blocked, his shadow vanished.

He just started smiling; the shadow he jumped in reached its hands to strangle his throat.

This shadow's owner took the opportunity to escape the living room. Smart guy's effort became other's innovative fruit.

Taking the hint from this, one of the remaining two people pushed his teammate into his own shadow and escaped the room.

The two who were choking by the shadows kept clawing at the shadows' hands in vain and suffocated in despair.

Then these shadows vanished.

In the living room, there were only Thain and the mud fiend.

Thain was a bit jubilant in his mind.

"Finally, it's my turn."

"I'm a bit nervous."

He coughed, reminding the fiend he was there, and it could do its job.

The fiend turned around and looked at him. The crimson eyes paused his breathing a bit.

He spread his arms, indicating he was ready, and gave his request: "Make it swift, please."

However, the fiend ignored him, and slowly sunk into the floor, apparently leaving.

Thain was surprised.

What do you mean, I am right here! Why are you leaving!

He quickly strode toward in front of the fiend, then laid down on the ground.

I fell, need to be killed in order to stand up.

The fiend sinking stopped, it used its bloody eyes staring at Thain, and Thain stared back at it.

The man and fiend did nothing else.

Thain felt, his provoking may not be sufficient. He needed to generate more threats.

So Thain reached out his hand, brushed the fiend's chest.

What a weird sensation, somewhat like jelly.

The fiend was indeed enraged by Thain's action; its mud started rippling like boiled water, its crimson eyes emanated even brighter light.

In Thain's point of view, his shadow began to move.

It stood up!

It reached out its hands!

It caught his hand!

It threw him on the sofa!

Then it vanished.

"???"

Thain stood up from the sofa, looked at the fiend tentatively.

That's it?

Pushed me a bit and it's done?

Aren't you fiend!

He still had a lingering hope, the fiend may wanted to put and kill him on the sofa.

Nevertheless, the fiend just glared at him a bit, then quickly sunk into the floor, vanished.

Thain staggered back two steps, hand-clapped forehead.

The fiend didn't kill him. He didn't die

Mixed feelings arose in his mind. If the fiend was still there, he would have asked it in grief:

"What do I lack compare to those people on ground!"

I already jumped in your arms, even touched you, how could you push me away!

You are fiend, are you not!

Are you having trouble with that function!

Why!

Grief-stricken, Thain walked out of the living room to the front yard.

Besides him, the four survivors already gathered there.

They looked at Thain, startled: "You even survived!"

Heart pained, Thain replied: "Yeah, I even alive."
