Chapter 1 - CHAPTER - 1 THE ENCOUNTER

Davina's POV:

I was scared. My hands were trembling as I tried to open the window. But it was useless. They were nailed from outside. I was losing my strength. I could feel my heart drumming. I was not ready to die, yet. I started gasping for air. I was slowly losing my consciousness but my will to live was stronger. I gathered my remaining strength to smash the glass. Finally, I managed to break out from the room. As soon as I rolled outside, I heard something ringing.

It was continuously ringing. As, I tried to regain my senses I felt sharp pain in my head. I realized I was still dizzy because of the pills I had yesterday. somehow after

a series of tripping myself I made it to the main door. As I opened the door what greeted me were a pair of eyes which felt like they were staring deep into my soul. It

made me almost breathless. After a while breaking the eye contact, my eyes started exploring the person standing in front of me. He had god like features, messy dark brown hair, his high and pointed nose. He had stubble on his chin and his lips slightly parted lips. I drifted back to his mesmerizing hazel orbs which currently held several emotions; impatience, annoyance and slight astonishment.

I inhaled a long breath and regained my posture. After briefly scrutinizing him once again I cleared my parched throat and threw a questioning glance.

"Who are you? What do you want?"

"I am here to check out my apartment." I could hear impatience and sarcasm dripping from his tone. My apartment. I froze once again as I tried to process his

words. Then it dawned on me Mr. Harold had notified me a week before that someone was renting the room next to me. As the realisation hit me, my eyes widened as threw a confirmatory glance towards him.

"I am Nathaniel. Mr. Harold told me to collect my keys from the other tenant." I was dumbstruck at his response. So, this was my new housemate. I was still in daze when Nathaniel stepped inside my apartment. I guess now it was not mine alone.

The living room was mostly vacant with a couch and wooden table. On the left side to the room was kitchen. It was fully equipped. There were two rooms located further on the right side facing each other.

When I first moved in, I was little disappointed as there was a single bathroom. But as I was the only one living in the apartment, I got used to it. However, my golden days of enjoying the whole apartment by myself were coming to am end. I was mentally prepared for the change but it still felt a little off.

After reminiscing about the past, I noticed him standing beside me examining the apartment. He was deep in thoughts. After thinking for a while, he suddenly moved

towards my room.

I hastily ran towards my room and stood outside it. I blocked him form opening my door. My arms were shielding the door like a cat protecting its food. With a

scowl on my face I hollered "This is mine, yours is the opposite one."

He shrugged his shoulders and went towards his room. I remembered that room had a small window. So, I had opted for my current room rather than this one. I waited for him to come out.I could see faint smile on his face but soon it vanished as he realized I was still present there. It was really getting awkward.

He merely nodded as I briefly explained about the rest of the apartment to him. After sometime he left with the spare key of my…. our apartment. I went back to my

room after locking the front door. 'My peaceful life is going to end soon.' I started feeling glum thinking about the days ahead.

I threw a glance towards the clock resting on the night stand. It was gifted to me on my last birthday by of my colleagues.

My eyes popped out after realising it was half past one. Earlier I was still dizzy and failed to notice the time. I sighed remembering about yesterday. It was all in the past. I knew very well that it was high time to move on but it was easier said than done. The memory was deeply etched in my mind and wounds fresh. Some wounds take time to heal but some may never heal. My wounds were the latter one.

After reminiscing for some time, I got up and went to freshen up. I still had some previous appointments to cover. This day was going to be another long day of my

life.
