Chapter 8 - Fifth Death Anniversary

When the twins arrived at the cemetery, it was already afternoon. They walked to the farthest corner of the graveyard, there wasn't anyone present except them.

Both Tsar and Shura had a sad expression on their face as they approached the tomb. They laid flowers on the grave, lighted the incense, and Tsar began speaking

"Hello there, mom. How have you been since we last met a year ago?..... I've been doing well for the past few years, and father has been looking after us so well that we're even relocating to a new home. Father couldn't join us since he had to work in the fields, but he promised to pay you a personal visit in the evening."

Tsar's face lit up with joy as he stated this, if Shura didn't live with him, even she would believe what Tsar said, seeing such confidence and happiness on his face. After about 10 minutes of talking about his life up to this point, Tsar stood up and gestured for Shura to continue.

Shura knelt and began to speak.

"Hello there, mother. How have you been all this time? We've been doing great, as Tsar said.... Father... has been looking after us very well."

She said this with a weird expression on her face.

"I've been thinking about what you said, and I think I've figured out what I like most."

She thought to herself.

She also began to tell about her life during the previous year, and by the time they were finished, it was nearly dusk, so they both stood up, bowed, chanted a few prayers, and left for home.

Alkis, on the other hand, was still heading towards his house, having reached around halfway. He had well-built legs and plenty of stamina as a farmer, but after walking for about 10 kilometres, even his feet began to swell, but he was in no condition to bother.

His looks were bewildering and doubtful, his thoughts was a muddled mess, and he was in a huge dilemma. He had always resented Tsar and wanted to sell him, but he was not so cruel as to participate in his death; he was also thinking about Shura. He knew that if something happened to Tsar, Shura would either commit suicide or become a huge problem in the future.

"So, what should I do now? Should I keep quiet and continue to live this meaningless life? or should I just tough it out and make a change in my life?"

As he was muddled in his thoughts, he didn't even realize that two hours had gone by and he had arrived at the entrance of a familiar place. As he realized where he had come he was first shocked but then sighed and said

"I guess fate wanted to meet us today anyway, huh."

While saying this, he entered the cemetery and began crying as he approached the grave of his wife. He had only ever loved one woman in his life, and he had given his everything to keep her happy. Things were going well, and he wanted her to be the happiest woman in the world. He could still live happily if it weren't for that incident.

His hesitancy began to fade as he remembered that incident, and his heart became resolute, and his eyes flashed with a fiery determination. He began talking while snobbing in front of his wife's grave.

"Flora, how have you been?.... A lot has happened, you know. I've been given the opportunity to become a force-user, surprising, right? If only you were here.... So, what should I do now? I have the opportunity to become someone who can look down on the majority of people. However, such a position requires sacrifice, which in this case is our children and my promise to you....."

".....Flora, why did you leave me? We could continue to live our lives as planned if you were here with me. Now I'm all alone, living a life without meaning. Why should I give up when I've been given such a chance? Our lives had already begun to deteriorate after the birth of Tsar and Shura, and then you abandoned me to deal with everything."

"ISN'T THIS UNFAIR??? Why should I look after the people who killed you when I didn't want them to exist to begin with?"

Alkis screamed hysterically, after taking his time to calm himself down, Alkis, knelt in front of the tomb and said

"Flora, don't be concerned. You don't need them when you have me; even when I become a force-user, I'll keep loving you; you'll be the only one in my heart. So pardon me for breaking my promise; I can no longer live this meaningless life. But don't worry, I'm not going to kill them myself; they still have my blood in them after all."

"I don't want them to die on your death anniversary, so I'll report him tomorrow. Goodbye, Flora; I'll see you again soon."

Alkis left the cemetery with a newfound resolution and determination.
