"But why would anyone want to curse the person they loved?" Akira uttered a question, almost in disbelief, unable to comprehend the mere thought.
"I guess that person wanted to leave a lasting mark on the one they loved."
"But that's so selfish and cruel!"
"Humans are selfish and cruel," Zaelek looked directly at Akira as he replied without missing a beat.
Zaelek was probably a thousand years old, Akira couldn't even say anything in defense of that, knowing that the man had seen humans for much longer than Akira had ever lived.
He could not come to imagine the number of souls Zaelek had reaped, how those souls had met their end, and what horrific things the Reaper had to see and experience.
"Is that why you hate humans so much?" Akira couldn't help but ask.
"It's a part of it. Yes."
Suddenly, Akira felt a sense of sympathy for the man.
"Doesn't really sound like a fun job anymore."
