Everyone in the cafeteria stops moving and stares directly at me. Some inmates start whispering while others look down to the recreation area. Inmates located at the entrance of the tunnels move out of the way and creep away from the stairwell, out of the gaze of the guards.
Just then I feel a jolt of electricity coming from the back of my neck and it makes me fall to my knees. I look over to the guard and he is holding an electric baton in my direction, pressing a red button that turns the shock on and off. The guard comes over and grabs my hair, pulling me up onto my feet. He brings me up to his face and whispers, "That was for earlier. The warden doesn't need any more trouble makers around here. Especially cry babies who don't obey the rules during lockdowns." Another guard then comes over and locks my hands behind my back and into a pair of handcuffs. The other guard finally lets go of my hair and throws me forward and tells me to walk. The rest of the guards and crowd disperse while Smit yells something to me, "Whatever you do James don't look her in the eyes!" I look back and see Ren holding Smit and their faces look like I am about to meet my end.
As the guard and I move further down the tunnel we stop and turn into a hollowed-out door in the wall. There is a brightly colored red door located in-between two more guards. The guard speaks up and says, "Open the elevator doors, I have a prisoner for the warden." Just then the sound of motors and machines creek as the elevator comes down. The doors ding quietly and the guards step aside. The doors open and the guard behind me pushes me forward again.
Inside the elevator there are no cameras, but the light above is bright. The guard moves towards a panel of buttons on the right and says, "I have the prisoner, we're heading up now. Unlock the elevator doors on your end." I look at the panel and see that our current floor is on level 100, and the elevator can go up to level 1. I make a mental note of the depth of the elevator. Smit must have been right, the prison is truly at the absolute bottom of the ocean.
As we ascend my ears pop and my chest feels heavy. After a few moments of silence the guard says, "Just so you know I'm the warden's right-hand man. Before she arrived the guards had to deal with so much shit from the prisoners. We had to patrol tunnels non-stop and suck up to you losers. Ever since she took control we get to do whatever we want. She doesn't get mad or complain when we have our way with some of the prisoners either. This place is paradise. All thanks to the will of our savior, *&//#."
As the guard mentions the creature's name my hand begins to feel like it was burning like before. I try to move my hands out of the handcuffs but the guard grabs them tightly and pushes me against the elevator wall. He holds my hands behind my back and says, "You and your friend's got some nerve getting involved in a fight on your first day, not to mention pissing off the warden. She's gonna make you pay big time. After your meeting with the warden I might even put you in solitary confinement to repent to our savior."
I push backwards and kick off the elevator wall. The guard trips backwards and takes me down alongside him. We both fall to the ground and the guard pulls out his baton. He presses the same button as before and an electric shock runs through my entire body. My body jolts around intensely and I hit my head on the floor, and blood flows out from my nose. The guard picks me up by my chains and throws me back to the ground, pushing my face into the blood. He screams, "You little–!" and kicks me in the face. After a few more kicks he stops and the doors to the top floor dings. He grunts and says, "Oh…you're gonna get it now! I'm going to make sure you spend the rest of your miserable life stuck in a cell until you rot! You're nothing you little shit! Get up, and get ready to meet your worst nightmare."
With my nose still bleeding the guard edges me out of the elevator and says, "Move it! To the right or else I'll spend the rest of the day beating your ass." I jolt forward and notice the top floor. The floor consists of a grandiose hallway that has trimmings of gold and red embellishments. Gorgeous paintings are hung along the walls, with a giant red carpet pointed in either direction. What looks like ancient pottery and weapons are placed in glass cases showcased amongst the hall. Some of the giant paintings show portraits of the monster. The paintings of the creature showcase its dominant but disproportionate features in various settings. It looks similar to the posters in Camron's room, with giant eyes and the body of various creatures in one. Beside the paintings of the monster there are smaller, darker-toned landscapes of battlefields and cities on fire.
As we approach the end of the hallway there are giant velvet doors with gold handles. The guard whistles for me to come closer as he places one hand on a touch pad next to the door. A disgruntled voice appears and yells, "WHAT!?" The guard then bends down and says, "I got the prisoner you asked for ma'am. I made sure to bring him to you quickly like you said." Then I hear small beeping noises coming from the control panel. It changes color and the massive doors open slowly. The voice returns and says, "Bring him in here now!" As the doors open a bright light creeps through the cracks. As we move forward the room comes into view.
