Chapter 1 - 0 - Who am I !!

It was an uneventful evening and I was reading the book called "The orphaned Princess and The Duke". What a cliche romance novel it was. The only fun thing about that was, it had a lot of magic and supernatural powers. The people in the empire had amazing powers and could do magic and also summon spirit animals.

The reason why the novel was famous was because of the villainess, Azriella Bergenn. She was the best female lady character I have read, because more than being a villainess, she proved that she was heroin in her own story.

I read that book solely because of Azriella's character. But, the plot twist wasn't that alone; The book still didn't have a happy ending. The princess saves the duke, who was to be assassinated by her real family. But when the princess whispers the duke a secret, which the author didn't mention, the duke stops fighting and in turn, soon ends the war. Both parties come to a compromise, which the emperor didn't seem so happy about, but was agreed on nonetheless. Everything returns to normal. But, after 2 years, he is sent to the war where the emperor plans to assassinate the duke. And the novel ends with the death of the princess, who becomes depressed after learning about the duke's demise.

I had already finished reading the book at my favorite cafe. Although I was sad about the ending the author gave, she could have at least not killed the princess. Since It was getting late, I decided to go home. I was standing on the pavement beside the road since I had to walk to the other side to reach my subway. My mind was filled with the thoughts from the book, and many questions were running around...

*Ding* message received

I opened up my phone to read the new mail I had got. My eyes were focused on the phone and the new mail I had to read. Soon the traffic lights turned red and when I decided to cross the road, a speeding car came crashing towards me.

All I saw before the accident was a zooming image of two very bright headlights. After that, I remember laying limp on the concrete road.

My whole felt like it was going lifeless. I could feel the cold running through my body. My vision blurred. I didn't feel my legs and arms anymore, but a throbbing sensation on my head was left behind.

It all felt strangely comfortable to me. Like my burdens, responsibilities, expectations, stress...all of them were being taken away. I had no regrets that I was going to die soon. My parents had already left me when I was barely 2 years old. and now Im going too. I wished I could meet my friends. But the feeling of not living a life for myself left a bitter taste in me. I was just 19, I had a long life planned for myself, get a job, fall in love, get married, have a few kids, go on a family vacation, but now it all seems like a funny joke.

I have considered myself cursed, as my childhood which was supposed to be filled with joy, happiness, toys, and familial love...instead, was filled with studies, household chores, rents, part-time jobs, etc. Even though my uncles and aunts took turns in taking care of me, there was a limit to all that.

At least that curse was lifted off me now.

I felt my whole body leaving me...My eyes desperately begged to close

I am really going to die soon, arent I?

"Accident"

"Please call the emergency!"

why was there too much noise?

Ohh... I feel breathless and tired ...

Like I just want to sleep.

Ahhh...Is this what the princess described as dying?

Honestly, it feels nice...

"Madam---"

"Wake up!!"

"Can you hear us--"

What is this commotion?

I slowly opened my eyes ...My eyes reflexively shut as it was too bright.

Is this afterlife?

As I managed to grasp where I was, I noticed three to four maids looking down at me worriedly.

"Your Grace? Are you alright ?" one of them asked.

"Who?" I asked unsurely. Moreover wasn't I supposed to be dead?

"your Grace are YOU alright?" She asked me again. I could see the worry increase.

"Ohh. Im fine, Thank you for your concern." I replied.

But Where the hell am I?

"Excuse me? Where am I ?" I asked, towards her politely.

"Your Grace !!?" She asked covering her mouth with her palm.

"my lady, you had drowned in that deep lake while playing ." another maid, explained. "I had specifically asked you refrain from going anywhere near that lake didn't I?"

"huh??", drowned? A fricking car came and hit me...I am supposed to be meeting God right now...What am I doing here?

"Dont you remember ?" She questioned.

"no?"

"Ohh heavens !" She said, resting her head upon her hand.

"My lady, would you mind telling me your name ?" Another maid, who was equally surprised asked.

"Uh..." I remember everything that happened to me but It feels like someone pressed the audio mute button. My head had a pricking pain when I thought more about the times before the accident. I couldn't get myself to remember my own name!

"she just drowned there no chance she would forget---"

"I dont remember" I answered honestly. The whole room gasped. Im pretty sure the whole place went silent

"But Im sure that I was crossing the road, to go to the bus stop. I lived in Seoul."

"Your highness this is the Hastell Empire!" she exclaimed.

WHAT ?!

THIS PLACE WAS IN THE NOVEL I WAS READING RIGHT ??

"You mean the Hastell Empire ruled by Emperor Drystan in the novel?" I was beyond the universe, surprised.

"Novel? Emperor Drystan?! What are you saying, my lady.." Others questioned.

"The book called the orphaned princess and the duke ?? Haven't you read it ?" I asked, it was wildly famous...

"It was set in around old times ...It was filled with magic and supernatural stuff."

"Are you really alright, my lady?" They asked again.

"let me call the Duke!" the maid said running outside.

"Do you, by any chance, remember us ?" the maid asked, I could hear she was on the verge of her tears.

"My bad, What is your name ?" I asked them smiling.

"You dont know us ?" they enquired again

"No? "

"I took care of your ladyship since she was a child. Since your ladyships' mother passed away at birth. I was your nanny. I am Amber?" She frantically explained, "the one who ran to call the duke was Rhory? and the one standing there is your personal guard Faolan?"

Before I could respond, I heard the door open with a crash sound...

"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED !!!"
