"Oh no, it looks like the reigning champ has Team Fun on the Run!"
Jun looked on as Ori and Akan were knocked off the map. Saka was down one life, but Jun was down two. He only had one left. Mikah and his partner Tanner both had two lives left. Jun began to sweat, but he wasn't down and out just yet. He was a Mikah fan through and through and he knew the Key Wielder received his name from his strategic play. Mikah's character, Aerial, was not a strong character, similar to Ori. Aerial was a young boy who wielded a sword that transformed into a key. His backstory was that these keys allowed him to travel to unlock doors to multiple universes where he would go to save the inhabitants from an evil force who wanted to take hold of their planets. His strengths and weaknesses were as follows:
Strengths: He has great edge-guarding, his combos allow for multiple attacks which are almost unstoppable, he has great recovery and many options to move or float back onstage.
Weaknesses: Lightweight and very floaty (similar to Ori)
Tanner, Mikah's partner, was playing a knight known as Motar. His backstory was he was a defamed knight in his kingdom that was wrongfully robbed of his title. He seeks revenge from those who took his land and title, and he will stop at nothing to right that wrong. His strength and weaknesses are as follows:
Strengths: His attack speed is off the hook, he has four recovery moves and multiple midair jumps which make it impossible to determine when he will recover, and also great edge-guard ability.
Weaknesses: When matched for KO's, he has horrible potential and endurance.
Mikah was able to win matches against high level opponents based on intuition. He knew that Jun and Saka were beginners, and thus by using the soul key within the first ten minutes of play, he sacrificed his HP. By doing so, he was using Motar as his bodyguard to protect him from any high-level attacks that Akan threw at the pair. However, using that strategy gave Jun and Saka an opening to defer the duo's attacks if they used the last card they had left up their sleeve. If that didn't work, it was game over.
"Jun, are you ok?" Saka asked.
There was concern in his voice which made Jun look away from his screen. It was at that time that he realized he was gripping his controller to the point that his knuckles were white. He had been so lost in thought.
"Yes." Jun replied. "Look, if we tag-team Aerial and Motar now, Aerial won't be able to power up to counter. Motar has been wasting his strength this whole time. Once I regain some HP, we've only got one chance to use our morph."
"Of course, Jun's got it all figured out. I shouldn't have worried." Saka thought.
"You're right, let's give that a go!"
Akan targeted Motar as Ori went up against Aerial. Akan used his silencer, which forced Motar to take the hit and gave Ori and opening to attack Aerial. Since Aerial's HP was low, he was unable to use his magical key and allowed Ori to gobble him whole. After Ori spit out Aerial, he absorbed his powers and quickly countered with a forward special: turbine blade. That blow knocked Aerial out of the arena. Motor soon followed as Akan used his blaster to shoot his opponent off screen.
"But wait!! Don't count Team Fun out just yet!" The announcer called after the room exploded in excitement.
"Yes!" Jun did a silent fist bump as Saka looked on and smiled.
"FUCK!!" Mikah snarled. "Come on Tanner, they're gaining on us!"
Jun looked over at Saka, knowing that it was now or never. His HP was exactly where it needed to be, and with Aerial's absorbed power, his and Saka's morph would be astronomical!
"Ready?" Jun asked.
"Ready!" Saka smirked.
Up, down, left, right, back, up, back, back. The pair moved their joysticks in sync as the crowd watched Ori and Akan start to merge together. There was a bright blue light which rocked the gaming arena, and when the light dimmed Jun and Saka shouted together:
"Arcane Fox!"
The crowd went wild as a dinosaur figure emerged wielding a key, had Akan's tail and wore the characters same combat clothing. Arcane Fox roared as Mikah and Tanner looked on in shock.
"Is that a new morph?!'
"What on earth is that!"
"Team Fun! Team Fun!"
Mikan gritted his teeth, commanding Tanner as they two gathered their newly acquired strength to attack Arcane Fox. However, the morphed pair decided to destroy their opponents in one final blow. Jun was determined to use Mikah's key attack against him and that's exactly what he would do.
"Black Blizzard!!"
"No!!" Mikah yelled, but it was too late.
Arcane Fox darted towards Aerial and Motar in a black fog. The key he wielded began to morph and looked like a black fox's head. Aerial and Motar braced themselves, but they were unable to defend against the thirteen strikes which laid upon them. Even as they attempted to shield themselves from the attack, their HP began to drop amongst the flurry of moves. It wasn't until Aerial and Motor finally dropped on the field, the enormous morph standing over them, and a final "K.O" splashed across the screen until Jun could breath a sigh of relief.
"YEAAAAAA!!!!!" The crowd yelled.
"Team Fun pulled off a win for the record books!!! I can't believe it!" The announcer exclaimed.
Jun was almost in too much shock to even stand up. However, when he felt Saka's hand on his shoulder and looked up to his smiling face, he couldn't help but jump up and swing his arms around his neck: hugging him close.
"We did it!!" Jun yelled merrily as the crowd continued to chant their name.
"Yea," Saka blushed, gingerly hugging Jun back, "we sure did."
