I waited for the right moment to hit, it couldn't look like I'm the one who killed him, else I run the risk of losing my protection.
Likewise it can't look like the elder killed him, otherwise people would riot against him, maybe even replacing him with someone less.... Accepting of my presence.
Sudently my senses picked on a large amount of mana.
'Seems like the battle is about to resume.'
The first elder started by throwing a condensed ball of mana, this ball was a mixture of gravity and stone magic.
Not that it had much effect, seeing as the talea sword was more than enough to redirect the magic away from the swordsman.
Luckily for me, that was already within the elder's plan. Once outside of the chieftains point of view this spell started absorbing the rocks around itself.
Likely to turn them into meteorites like he did during his fight against me.
'I can redirect the rivver' s poison against the rocks. '
It would take away the blame from the elder but... They might still think it was me.
'Lets keep on watching for now. :
Unaware of the dangers lurking behind him, the chieftain decided to lighten himself using his gravity magic and sending himself flying against hid opponent.
Due to the 'talea' sword of his, his magic is only usable within a meter radius tough, not to mention his lack of affinity, all of this makes it so he is pretty weak on long distance fighting.
Close quarters are a different thing tough.
Seeing the chieftain getting closer, Arthur decided to create a gravitational field around him.
Every rock on a distance of 50 meters started spinning around him, creating a dome. At the speed those rock are spinning it would probably be quite painful.
"Ah! You think this will stop me?"
Laughing out loud, the chieftain once again cut through his foe's magic like fine butter.
'Killing him up close would be the best option. He is obviously much better than the elder at close quarter so no one would suspect him.
And at this close distance the elder probably would be confident enough at reading mana, to say he didn't feel mine.'
The problem with this strategy would be to hide my mana from the elder at this close of a distance from the chieftain.
".. No. I didn't think that would stop you... But this will."
At those words the earth otherwise spinning around him started compressing and surrounding the chieftain.
'This? I did this in my fight against him. If you can't defeat him, just lock him up in a place his sword can't cut though.'
" YOU THINK THIS WOUDL WORK ON ME AGAIN!"
Probably due to anger, the chieftain's next strike was a lot...?
*slash* *slash**slash*
'Oh! How smart.'
No wonder that strike felt different, it's not that he is angry... It's just that he hit three time in the time-frame of one.
He did this by moving his body using his gravity instead of his muscles.
Usually when one swing a sword they have to waste time with first stopping and then acelarating again.
But his magic is different, all he did was change the direction of his motion, without changing the speed of said motion.
'That wasn't gravity magic... At least not the traditional kind. A variation? Motion magic maybe?'
"I already knew you wouldn't get locked up in that."
"Of course you d- *argh*"
While trying to laugh at the elder, the chieftain was suddenly hit by the gravity spell that the elder had shot out in the begging of the fight.
' This is a very good learning experience.'
I have a selective amount of elements, and exactly because of that, I don't have a particular strong suit. I use every element I get.
Humanoids on the other hand can use every element, yet due to both their short lifespans and a higher affinity, they usually especialise on a given element.
'Maybe in the future I'll do the same. Specialize in a element, at least in battle, if only until I master it.'
*Boom *
Looking back at the fight, both the chieftain and the elder seem to be on a bad state.
The elder had a large cut in the middle of his sholder and the chieftain had multiple small rocks lodged into his back.
' They seem to be preparing another attack.'
I'll shot a sand bullet filled with curse magic at the chieftain a midst the elder's next rock barrage.
If I create a solid sandstone bullet with curse magic inside, being separated from the sandstone by wind magic, that'll kill him.
The sandstone will prevent the elder from feeling my magic, and given that none of them know I have curse magic, I'll not be suspected... Much.
Because the chieftain's body will turn into dust right in front of everyone no one will suspect that what killed him was the elder's magic.
*Boom*
'The bullet will have to be shot manually though.'
I won't be able to steer in mid-air else I'll fill the sandstone with my mana, likewise I will have to shot it with air pressure.
*Boom*
Regardless, this is the best way.
Once they atack each other again I'll shot.
*Boom*
And here is my chance.
