Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: A Year Later

"Dad." I turn to see Tonya smile and then she starts dancing in her baby blue leotard and tutu on her tiptoes.

She has the lead in the ballet tonight, and we are all dressed up in our suits and ball gowns. The pups are so much bigger now, they look like they are at least 6 years old. In their suits and dresses, they look like they are ready to take on the world.

It's amazing that just last year they were newborn pups and couldn't even walk, let alone hold a conversation with an adult. Looking at them now, I think to myself, "Wow, they are smarter than I could possibly ever imagine. Every time I turn my back, the boys are getting into mischief, while the girls are learning everything, they can about the world around them.

Tonya stops and then looks at her watch before declaring, "It's time!" To all of us with great excitement as she bounces out the door to the car.

I smile so proudly, that it feels like my face will break when I see all my pups in a line on the way to the car. Not seeing Arabella immediately, I hesitate and wait for her. Straggling, I catch a glimpse of her slender figure, and feel lucky to be hers. "Baby, it's time." I say to her lovingly before I reach out to her and kiss her dark red lips.

When I break the kiss, she sighs and then I release her so she can grab her purse. After she grabs her coat and her shoes and puts them on, I take her hand and we walk to the car. "Life can't be better than this, can it?" I wonder to myself before putting the car in gear and driving to the dance hall.

So much has happened in the last year, that when I look in the mirror, I could swear I look ten years older than I did when I first met Arabella. Smiling, I glance into the rearview mirror at all my children and realize just how lucky I am that they all lived after everything we have been through. It is just absolutely wonderful.

After I killed the doctor, everything changed. Sure, there were a few mishaps, but other than that, it was peaceful, and everyone learned to live together. We even have several humans living amongst us now, including Arabella's parents.

They don't seem to worry about us all being werewolves and when they finally heard the story of how we first met and what happened afterwards, they didn't harbor any ill feelings. Despite the fact, that I had to kidnap their daughter and keep her captive. It is a surprising change of events, but I think it has a large part to do with the fact that they are surrounded now by their grandchildren.

"Miracles really do happen." I murmur under my breath and then Arabella turns to me with a curious look on her face.

"Why do you say that?" She asks while cocking her head.

"Oh, it's nothing. I was just thinking about what has happened in the last year and how big the pups have gotten." I glance at her and smile while watching the traffic as I pull into the parking lot.

As I stop the car, they all grow excited and then one by one they file out and rush towards the lobby. "Dad, mom. I will be in the back getting ready." Tonya says right before she rushes in back with all her human friends.

The rest of our little pack joins me and Arabella, as we find a seat in the crowd and then watch the beautiful rendition of The Nutcracker Suite, with Tonya as the lead. So proud of her, I find myself smiling so hard my face hurts again and then I look at Arabella and lean over to kiss her sweet lips.
